My ball hockey season is starting soon and im looking to improve my shot, more specifically my wrist shot do you guys have any tips or exercises I could do that would help me improve on it?

I have a pretty good shot, this is more about taking it to the next level.

Practice practice practice. Take 100 shots a day. Is there anything specifically wrong with your shot in ball hockey?

I think I have an above average shot, tops on my team for sure but I want to take it to the next level. Watching some of the "A" level players last year really impressed me

Then your shot is probably already a lot better than mine, but even I know there aren't any tricks...just gotta practice.

I had such a hard time with ball hockey yesterday. After being used to lifting a puck I was shooting a good three feet over the net. Stupid light ball!

Oh yeah, for ball you really have to roll your wrists over or else that thing is airborne. When I just started shooting with a ball, I kept my follow-through aimed up, and that ball just launched into the sky. I learned my lesson quickly

I like practicing with real pucks to help my ball shooting. I find that if I can bang pucks top shelf I can shoot the ball much m\more easily. However, many may think I'm not really in the position to give anyone advice on hockey but I do have a pretty solid shot.

you better work on your release than your general shot. That's the main difference between elite sniper and more casual player. If you got a big shot but need 1 second to load it, you won't be able to use it during a game anyway.

How would I go about improving that release? repetition?

Practice shooting without giving any clues, a quick snap of a shot. Also if you want more power try using a weighted ball (if they have them) if not make your own, fill a roadhockey ball with sand or something.

Just practice.

Balls are cheap. Get as many as you can afford.
Get a Net. Get some plywood. Cut some holes. Practice an hour a day twice a day.

Unless you are going to get someone who is experienced to be there and coach you a few times a week just practice and work it out yourself.

Seriously though, get someone to show you how to do it properly if you never had help. Practice for a couple weeks and then get some help again.

Do Work. It is all muscle memory. If you can get someone to help you avoid building bad habits, it will be better.

Good point,it takes about 10 000 repetitions to make something second nature / automatic.
