If season is cancelled

Just think of how many things will be messed up. The juniors will be really crowded. The 06 draft will be at least 2 rounds of SOLID prospects. Everyone will be a year older in their current contracts. Tv ratings will go down. Ticket prices will decrease. Some of the biggest upsets in European hockey ever will happen due to NHLers playing there. ALot of European players unemployed. Mascots, ushers, equipment makers, personnel, etc. all out of jobs. Players getting out of shape. players losing development and being forced into early retirement. Records not getting made. Also, ALOT OF PISSED OF HOCKEY FANS!
Just imagine all of the crap that Gary Bettman and Bob Goodenow will get after that happens. These two guys must not realize that their names will forever be remembered in the name of NHL hockey as the two biggest jerks ever that couldn't get a deal done because they were both to stubborn, and there was no hockey that year...
Just imagine the shame.

True, but to give in would be a huge shot to their egos, as well as most likely their paycheck. Unfortunately, the leagues health took a major hit when the players refused any kind of linkage to revenue........and the NHL refused to give any type of offer not centered on a cap.

Ah well - We should find out this week what will happen.

Can it! Its over. The league actually wants contraction OR they would not be so dead set on something called a "salary cap!" The older, higher paid, playes are so darned greedy they are willing to sacrifice youth for their lust for $. The younger players are afraid to speak out for fear they will be constantly hammered by the older players SHOULD they ever play NHL hockey. The FANS and ancellary industry take a hard, dry one up the "T- cutter."

1) i don't think for a minute the league itself wants contraction,i think betteman and the owners realize the only real way to grow league revenues is thru the growth of television contracts, and that they also know the only way to grow tv contracts is for the league to be nationwide and especially in all the growth areas of the country..we have to remember it was betteman, with this vision, that drug the rest of the league down this path to begin with

2)i will agree the season looks less and less likely, however until the end of this week comes(figuring if a deal was somehow pulled out in the next 7 days the league could be playing a 30 odd game schedule starting March 1)...we get to 15 february and have no deal, then i will agree the season is irrevocably gone
