Revelstoke, BC!

Quote:
A strong and hard-hitting forward, Volpatti plays with an aggressive mentality and will continue to be a valuable part of the Brown front line, especially during man-down situations. He spent the majority of last year on the Bears' second line.
Quote:
Tri-captain Aaron Volpatti ’10 went down in the record books Saturday for the most penalty minutes of any player in Brown history — and he did it on purpose.

Volpatti — who was five penalty minutes shy of the single-season record before the game — told referee Chip McDonald before faceoff not to be scared to give him a 10-minute game misconduct if the Bears were ahead late in the consolation game, Volpatti said.

So when the Brown forward was whistled for a slashing penalty with 4:33 left in the third period with Brown ahead 2–0, he knew it was his chance to break the record.

“I got that penalty and then I said to Chip (McDonald), ‘Was that a 10 or?’ And he goes, ‘Do you want a 10?’ And I can’t really say what was said, but, yeah,” Volpatti said.

Sounds like he will be a good 3rd/4th liner/PK guy.

I don't mind the signing.

Essentially you're signing a guy who put up similar points to Walsky in his senior year, except this guy fights. Obviously he's not going to light any league he plays in on fire, but he's got enough skill that he isn't a complete plug and will probably step into the Moose lineup sooner than later, as it's been documented that they need more guys that will drop the gloves....

Here's hoping he can be somewhat effectiveness for them. And best case scenario he can push guys like Glass, who in my opinion haven't been effectiveness since the first 1/4 of the season....

He seems to do fine scoring 32 points in 37 games in college, maybe he can play top 6 role in the Moose?

Hopefully he can provide some grit, tenacity and meanness somewhere in our organization.

That story about the PIM record is pretty funny. By all accounts Volpatti is a big, physical player who loves to use his size and he's a good guy in the locker room. Was the Captain for Brown and was playing outstanding hockey for them this year, lots of big goals.

Hopefully he goes to the Moose. Arniel seemed pretty pleased with the way Schroeder and Clark played yesterday and a lot of other players talked about the infusion of youth and energy. What better way to spark that than by bringing in a crash and bang player like Volpatti?

And Schneider. My biggest observation from the game yesterday was just how much he gets run with no answer from the refs or his team.

Cool. Adds some depth plus size to our organizational winger core. Hopefully we can make an NHL bottom 6 player out of him.

I like this signing more than the Walsky signing last year. Same age and similar point totals, but Volpatti seams a whole lot more versatile. Hopefully he works out better than Labrie.

If he can skate faster than a turtle he'll work out better than Labrie....
Having said that I didn't mind Labrie.

Yeah that's where I saw just from the "highlights" of the game (other team seemed to really take runs at the Moose players as well as Schneider).

Could make a good mucker out of him. Hopefully he can have a solid impact on the Moose next season. BC kid so I'm rooting for him, but definitely not expecting much from him.

I think the hope was that Walsky had some puck skills that might translate to the pro level. Doesn't appear to have gone that well. Evan Oberg on the other hand has been pretty good, leads Manitoba's defense in scoring with 22 points. Not bad for an undrafted kid in his first pro season.

Hopefully Volpatti can at least carve a niche for himself as a hard-checking bottom-six type guy.

I think the OP is suffering from a slight case of "bracketus interuptus." It is a rare mental disorder where individuals have a compulsive and intrusive desire to put everything in brackets. Not surprising it tends to flare up around March Madness.

So I'm assuming this guy will report to the Moose, and have at least one goal in his first game?
