Malkin Out Vs. Detroit 3.22.2010

http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.ht...id=DL|PIT|home

12:40 PM:
The Penguins will not have Evgeni Malkin in the lineup. It was confirmed by Bylsma that Malkin will not play. When asked if Malkin was out for the game, Bylsma responded, "that's the case, yes."

I hate the Malkin-less offense. Sid needs a game tonight.

I'm guessing

Kunitz Crosby Dupuis
Poni Staal Guerin
Cooke Kennedy Feds
Rupp Talbot Adams

Post Gazette had these:

Cooke - Staal - Guerin
Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Ponikarovsky - Talbot - Fedotenko
Rupp - Adams - Kennedy

Not sure why Poni would get dropped to the 3rd line after having a good game against Carolina, but I wouldn't be surprised either.

sucks the Cooke-Staal-Guerin line looked pretty terrible.

I wonder how "negative" those x-rays were.

Malkin being out sucks bad.

Seeing that proposed lineup sucks just as bad.

Ugh... Ponikarovsky was brought in to give the top 6 an injection of talent on the wings, yet he's not being given the ice time to do just that. What. The. Hell?

You may view it as Ponikarovsky on the third line, but really Bylsma is only keeping the lines intact (for once) and inserting Talbot where Malkin was.

Not sure why Tyler Kennedy is getting the short end right now, though, because his energy is back to where we need it to be. The sooner the third line is reunited the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Sucks about Geno, especially since the second line looked good for once on Saturday.

I go out of town for a few days and Guerin is playing with Staal? What kind of bizarro world is this?

I understand your point of view, but I doubt that the Poni-Talbot-Feds line will play 2nd line minutes. And considering Poni hasn't been getting enough playing time as it is (like Sidney the Kidney mentioned above) it's kind of frustrating.

I agree with you about Kennedy, he should be back with Staal and Cooke. Also Dupuis looks to be cooling off, so how long before he is moved off of Sid's line?

It's been a rough year for Geno. Hopefully all is well before the playoffs.

Not long I guess and soon to be replaced by ... Guerin. Sid should start scoring a few(therefore making the whole line successful) if he doesn't want good old Billy G. back on his line.

He probably won't have one. We play in Detroit and Malkin isn't there, he'll get a steady dose of Datysuk/Zetterberg/Lidstrom.

Looks like they're trying to do their line juggling now before the playoffs. It doesn't look that great now, but I have a hard time believing these lines will stay intact all game, so wait and see, I guess?

Well, the only hope I can muster is if Edmonton can beat the Wings, we can beat them without Geno.

I'm getting closer and closer to shopping Dan Bylsma into a 300 Sparta Kick picture.

Those lines are awful.

I'd rather "stack" the lines and put Poni and Kennedy with Staal
