That story about the PIM record is pretty funny. By all accounts Volpatti is a big, physical player who loves to use his size and he's a good guy in the locker room. Was the Captain for Brown and was playing outstanding hockey for them this year, lots of big goals.
I think the OP is suffering from a slight case of "bracketus interuptus." It is a rare mental disorder where individuals have a compulsive and intrusive desire to put everything in brackets. Not surprising it tends to flare up around March Madness.
I appreciate the humour, but I don't think you'll find anyone more indifferent to a sporting event that devaluates the term "madness".
Botch says he'll be signed to an ATO to play in Manitoba -- not a huge surprise.
Will be assigned to manitoba on ATO, ala Schroeder RT @Kent_Basky any word where Volpatti will report to, Manitoba or Victoria?
Hopefully he's the "crease-clearer" you've all been hoping for.

I think Arniel has to be happy with some of the youth coming in. It really sounded from his interviews after the game the other day(a few of the vets as well) that there was a bit of stagnancy and complacency in the Moose locker room. Bringing in some young guys full of energy and enthusiasm has to be a bit of a shot in the arm.
I think you have cracked the signing. Gillis is going to hid him under the Canucks bench, then when Burrows gets into mischief, Burrows "ties his laces out of sight" and they quickly substitute the two and Volpatti (wearing Burrows number) goes out and has a fight, then comes back and switches places with Burrows. Improves Burrows reputation because now "he's a fighter" he can't be a diver.
Walsky was one dimensional--offensive player or bust. Volpatti is a capable two-way player who brings a physical game. Could end up as Rypien/Glass type player or worst case, he bottoms out as a P.C. Labrie type guy. Either way, it's a pretty risk free move.
I guess you did not catch that drift in my post, I know's he's a utility type of player, just some on here seem to have high offensive hopes for him.
I don't think anyone is thinking he is going to be an offensive force. I've only read one comment about him possibly being in the top 6 on the Moose, which isn't considered very much. Matt Pope was in the top 6 and he has 5 pts in 35 games. I don't think expectations are high.
Most here are just hoping he can have an impact and bring energy to a somewhat deflated Moose team.
I think it's a great move, as usual we get an asset for nothing but to be honest I'm just glad that this year we went and got an asset that's more likely to fill a bottom 6 roll since it's that area we've had a bit more trouble with.
