Needs to be noted that he will practice for the rest of the year, but won't play.

I really thought he was going to break out this year, his stats wern't amazing but he just seemed to be on a new level. Calmer and cooler. Look what he did for Penner early. I really look forward to having him back next year.

If you would've read the link you would've got that, but I kinda figured people are just as lazy as I am and wouldn't open it up. I just happened to be on Tencer's and figured I should point it out before we start the Hemsky-Eberle and whoever line to finish the year.

Ya I have no use for facebook or Twitter. Thanks for the info though. Wonder if he will play in the Worlds. Does he need the Oilers permission to do so?

thanks for the update.

Great to see he's back at practice. Couldn't hurt for him to get his legs back, particularly if he goes and plays in the worlds to get back into shape before summer training.

I use facebook to check out holiday pictures and Twitter is good for hockey updates. I think he can go to the worlds if he wants, but the team could probably ask him not to. Who knows if Jagr is at them then Tambo probably wants Hemsky to go and play with Jagr and convince him to come over.

I understand that there is alot of useless bs on the interwebs but you clearly havent seen how useful social networking can be for up to the minute info on just about anything.

Why what? Practice? It was pretty much talked about when he went down that he'd be damn near ready come playoff time, so there really is no harm in him skating at practice and getting back into game shape. Has to do it sooner or later.

good news
I underestimated how much we'd miss a good RH shot/passer, especially on the PP

They'll keep Hemsky off the ice so he doesn't pass Horcoff in points.

Agree 100%, we've seen and hopefully learned that our offence goes as Hemsky goes. And this year he really stepped up and made others around him better (Gagner and Penner). I think he is severely being underrated lately. Maybe people just have a short memory and forget exactly how important he is to the team.

I don't think Hemsky did anything for Penner. If anything it was the other way around.

Hemsky
Before Penner: 7 games- 1 goal and 5 points
With Penner: 14 games- 6 goals and 17 points

Penner
Before Hemsky: 8 games- 5 goals and 9 points
With Hemsky: 16 games- 8 goals and 17 points
After Hemsky: 8 games- 5 goals and 10 points

Penner played a couple more games because Hemsky missed some time with his shoulder before officially being out for the season.

In Hemsky defense for the "before Penner" stats, he was with Horcoff and Jacques. I'm just pointing out that Penner was just as good without Hemsky than with Hemsky.

Would be nice to him at the WHC this year.

Any chance he's ready in time?

I don't know but I did get the impression at the time of the announcement that had we made the playoffs he may have been able to return during that time.

Ya, when the games this season still mattered, Penner was the 1 consistent player who was performing no matter who his line mates were.

Since he's starting to skate I wonder if he would play if the Oilers were in the playoffs.

Actually Horcoff probably came in his pants at the sight of 83., hoping he can go next game so HE CAN PAD HIS STATS.

He needs to get written consent from the Oilers to participate in hockey outside of his duties to the Oilers. But the Oilers are not aloud to unreasonably withhold their consent. So if he is healthy enough to play by then, then the Oilers have to give him written consent.

He also looked like he was passing and shooting too, it looked like he was participating in puck drills from what i saw on the news.
