Barring injury

I think we may see Buff kept back there. He has looked geat so far and his size allows him to carry the puck into offensive zone without alot of players able to force him off it.

When we lost Campbell we lost his ability to carry puck up ice and break into the opponents zone. Buff may be able to compensate for that

Plus

Eager-Kopecky-Burish may offer a better option as a 4th line for us.

Barring injury

Brouwer/Sharp-Toews-Kane
Brouwer/Sharp-Bolland-Hossa
Ladd-Madden-Versteeg
Eager-Kopecky-Burish
(Fraser)

Keith-Seabrook
Johnsson-Hjalmarsson
Hendry-Byfuglien
(Boynton, Sopel)

I would like those lines/combo's for playoffs

Except Buff is a natural D, he came up playing D and he played his best hockey as a Hawk playing D. He's never been entirely comfortable at forward and he's obviously comfortable there now.

Buff had some issues at D the last time around but he's twenty or thirty pounds lighter now and much quicker. If he keeps up his play, I'd be incredibly surprised to see him moved back.

Have you seen Seabrook play lately??

In the last 2 months Hammer has been >>> Seabrook. Hammer's potential is >> Seabrook's anyway. I think this will be an awesome pairing.

With the way Hendry has played he needs to be in the top 6. If going by how he's played you could justify putting him in the top 4 with the other 2 guys out.

Of course I have seen Seabrook lately. He doesn't get a free ride out of me. That said he is still a number 2 right now that just needs to play better. I am merely pointing out that it has been great to see Hammer get his chance along with Keith. He has admitted that Keith is his idol, so some time with him will be good for his growth.

I am also with you on the potentials of Hammer, the more I have thought about this, I can see our team potentially moving Seabrook in the future, and truly making Hjalmarsson our number 2. It may not be the popular choice, but with Campbell/Hendry and the D prospects in the system that will come up soon enough, we have a solid core to work with.

I honestly think Keith would throw a fit if we moved Seabrook.

LOL, well that's really long term anyways. Definitely not this year.

I don't like the idea of losing Buff either. We'll see what happens in the offseason.

I didn't want Buff playing D at all after the injuries, but he has played really well since the move. With Campbell hurt now is he still counting against our cap? If not, I'd like to see them call up Skille to replace Buff on offense. I think he would be a better fill in then Fraser.

If Hawks win cup then they can trade Seabrook ,,,, I would be so happy that I would not be angry with that news

+ Think of the type of return we could get on Seabrook

Not Quite, but he would be pissed. I bet they told him Seabs will be on the Hawks for a long time when he signed the 13 year deal.

I could see Seabrook being moved but not for another couple of years. I'd think we'd resign him and trade him for some good assets when Hjalmarsson develops into an even more solid defenseman and when Olsen/Lalonde/Hendry are ready to be called up if this were to happen.

With that said, I think it'll be a few years before this has a shred of possibility and even then it really depends on the development of our D prospects. If they all develop into their top potential, then I could see Seabrook being dispensable if he commands too much money... but to be honest I see this as the only reason we'd really move him and I really can't see him doing this. I'd like to think he'd take a reasonable pay cut to stay in Chicago where he was drafted and so he can stay with Keith, who he has incredible chemistry with and will have a shot at the cup for years. I guess we'll see in a few years.

So, we go from praising Buff for his play (which is suspect, IMO.....good enough for a few game fill in, but if he's on the blue line in the PO's, imma gonna need my puke bucket handy) to the thought of moving Seabrook?

He's been playing like garbage since before the Olympic break, we all know what a rested and healthy Biscut brings. (Anyone remember last year's PO's, where he basically kept Keith from looking bad constantly?) Let's back away from the ledge......please.

Also, I want Boynton nowhere near my blue line in a game that means anything. This guy is a poor man's Matt Walker, and do we all need to relive that nightmare?

Well, we couldn't afford Walker's 1.7 mil / year cap hit, now could we? He's almost earning B Sopes kind of money!

Agreed

I would take out Boynton and go with a Hendry/Byfuglien pairing and have Boynton as our #7
