And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you use the internet.

Cool to see Sakic dropping the gloves though.

Interesting that Gilmour chose not to drop 'em. [edit: on second view, he did drop 'em... not that you'd know it from that effort]

I hope that power play was worth a lifetime of Youtube humiliation.

I laugh every time I see this video... Sakic throws one punch every few seconds and the announcer makes it sound like a melee "ANOTHER RIGHT BY SAKIC! ANOTHER RIGHT BY SAKIC! ANOTHER RIGHT BY SAKIC!"

Yea, Mike haynes use to think he needed to try to call out every single punch. It was sort of annoying, and sort of awesome.

I wonder what Gilmour did to get Sakic so pissed. Sakic was one of the calmest players ever!

I didn't think it was that impressive. Sakic looks like he tried to catch him off guard which gave him the upper hand from the start. Really never landed many substantial shots either. I have a feeling it would have been a different story had they actually squared off. Maybe that's just me.

That Avs feed is awesome. Sakic threw two right hands that were so fast I didn't even see his arm move.

Thanks for posting that, it's been a long time since I've seen it...damn Sakic could hold his own. And my bad Gilmour was on CHI not NJ, I only remembered the red jersey

Interesting... Sakic (8th all-time scoring) and Gilmour (17th) combined for 3055 regular season points. Apart from Gretzky's two fights with Neal Broten and Bob Murray (Lecuyer only had 42 career pts, so didn't crack 3000), I wonder if another fight featured more combined career points than Sakic/Gilmour. Did Howe ever fight Espo before he left for the WHA? Maybe a Messier fight did it.

Anyway, would be an interesting (and probably short) list of 3000+ pts in a fight.

Sakic didn't remove his helmet.

Still not as classy as Steve Y.

I thought it had to do with Gilmour badmouthing Sakic's wife, Debbie, but I could be wrong.
