Bozak's "The Real Deal"

With all the negative vibes i've been reading on these boards, I thought I would postan article I read yesterday that made me feel A LOT better about the product on the ice and the 2010-11 season.

Ladies and gentleman, The Real Deal.

http://www.torontosun.com/sports/col.../13335776.html

Quote:
When Ron Wilson tried to loosen up the Maple Leafs just before facing the Boston Bruins earlier this month, he singled out skinny Tyler Bozak and told him he must run 6-foot-9, 255-pound Zdeno Chara right from the faceoff.

“Tyler laughed along with everyone,” Wilson said. “Then he went out and hit Chara.”

Battling above his weight class and doing the unexpected is becoming a specialty of Bozak’s, witness his grip on the coveted No. 1 centre’s role. Yet it’s the way the Regina native swims in the crowded Leafs fishbowl that’s just as remarkable.

“You’d have to say he’s everything we hoped he’d be and more,” said senior advisor Cliff Fletcher, watching Bozak at Tuesday’s morning skate. “Just look at the schedule he has had, playing in our (September) rookie tournament, looking good at training camp, playing with the Marlies, fighting through what might have been the H1N1 virus (losing 12 pounds he could ill afford). And now that our roster is as young as it is, he’s getting the opportunity to fill a pretty big role.”
Feel free to read the whole article. This is just a one piece I liked.

Yes, while he was with the Marlies earlier this year. He missed a few weeks because of it and still managed to make it to the bigs and have this kind of point production.

There's still hope for the future.

Bozak has to do it over the course of a full NHL season to be the real deal. I've liked what I have seen so far though.

really? it took me 3 months for my lungs to feel 100% after i had it and the doctors wouldn't even say with certainty that i had pneumonia. i bet it slowed Bozak down quite a bit.

No doubt it slowed him, but I guess my region got off easy, or maybe people I know have strong immune systems.

Completely off-topic but seeing your user name, I just had to ask: Jimmy James - Macho Business Donkey Wrestler?

There were a lot of sick people and they stopped sending results to the labs to confirm whether it was H1N1 or just the regular flu.

I was out for two weeks. must've caught it on the TTC or something... terrible, worst flu I've ever had, easily... lost 12 pounds too.

And as far as Bozak.. he is my favourite leaf and i hope he keeps it up. he looks to have 70 point potential.

I heard that a huge portion of the chemical engineers in my uni (Waterloo) got it..... people say they didn't get hit bad and it was overhyped but at university that **** scared the hell out of me

Only 1% of the population got it. To put that in more identifiable terms, only slightly more people in Canada got H1N1 than the Devils have fans.

WOW

Everybody just flew off topic here.

I think given a full season playing with the big boys, Bozak will be able to pull off a 60-70 point year. Yes, I don't want to over speculate, but seeing the chemistry he has built in such a short time gives me the feeling that he has more to give.

H1N1 was a bad flu and it hit people in different ways, but the general consensus was the weight loss (10-12 lbs.) and it took roughly a month to recover from it. Add that to an ankle injury and Bozak had an impressive year to say the least.

I think he will definitely be our 2nd line center with a possibility of taking the reigns of the 1st line.

H1N1 was so overblown by sensationalist media... Still can't believe people actually watch the news on TV, absolute garbage. I didn't know a single person who had H1N1. I work at a gym, so people come and go.... and still no H1N1
