Flyers interested in Bodrov's brother?

This is interesting. IMO he is a very good player, plus having both brothers is always an interesting option.
Anyone on this side of the pond hear the same?

Flyers interested in Ak Bars Kazan forward Evgeni Bodrov, 22, younger brother of Denis. Evgeni had 25 points in 55 games this season.
Pointed it out earlier this morning after catching a tweet from Euroflyers.

I'm not really sure what happened to him. He started out so well this season. Although, when he got traded to Kazan he apparently got dropped some lines and wound up with far less playing time than he was getting with Lada.

Might make playing in the AHL easier if they are both there.

Of course in Lada he had a bigger role. Ak Bars got also former Peoria Lemtyugov, and he's barely played. This might mean something

How about Flyers bring Popov 1st and then we worry about Bodrov's brother.

With the Russians, you kind of take it as it comes.

Thats how we did it for the past 10 years. Want come play here? No? Ok.
I say be a little more aggressive with Popov.

and I am sure we can find goaltender who is better then Boucher.

If they're interested in someone, you don't think they don't get aggressive trying to get him? They wanted Esche to flip off his team when he was still under contract. What else do you want to do? "Come play for us...or else"

Esche? Are you kidding me? What? A moron that suggested to even pronunce last name Esche should be fired. Another back up that became a starter on this team and could not make it anywhere else in the NHL. If we had someone who was just a little better then Esche we would be in SCF against Flames.

When were we really interested? Now? We we may not make playoffs and we have pretty much nothing in the AHL and no picks? We were really interested in Bodrov after he was thrown out.

Honestly I do not remember.. For example, Dallas was interested in Brunnstrom, Leafs were inetrested in Gustavsson.

At least Clarke brought Cechmanek and Dopita and flipped them for picks.

This was before they signed Boucher.

In retrospect it would have been a good move if they could have gotten Esche to come over to be the back-up. He would most likely be an upgrade (although still a question mark) over Boucher when the injuries piled up.

I would take Esche over Boucher, but that's like choosing between two different kinds of toilets.

I agree. The Flyers seem fairly aggressive, maybe more so this offseason.

The real question is, how many people does Holmgren think he can fit on our AHL team?

We've already looked at how stacked the Phantoms look next year.

Now try to fit in E. Bodrov, Popov, and Kempe who the Flyers are all trying to convince to come over by 2011-12 at the latest.

They're going after Jussi Rynnas and Sergei Bobrovsky. On top of that they got Carter Hutton and Nicola Riopel likely on the Phantoms next year. Don't forget Eriksson who can't be all that far away.

Bertilsson is waiting as well, and there were even rumors he'd be coming over this offseason.

Now add Luke Pither, Shane Harper, Ben Holmstrom, Mike Testwuide, and Tyler Hostetter to Eric Wellwood, Dave Labrecque, Zac Rinaldo, and maybe even De Serres who could all be, and most will definitely be, joining the Phantoms next season.

At this point with the lack of true blue chip prospects, what's the risk? Sign him to a low level AHL contract and see what happens. He'll either make the team, get sent to juniors, or just walk away. Plus like it was mentioned, might help the transition to the A easier for both guys.

tells me that the borderline guys weve had for a while are either gonna be moving up or moving out. ross nodl kalinski are going to be having important camps next year

Unless people still think that he is a 3rd line player?

Powe will remain on the team in some capacity because his cap hit will be so low. He couldn't possibly get that much of a raise

just say he wants a modest one of 300k. do you give it to him? every $ counts so i dont and replace him with a league min salaried guy. maybe shooter think some of these guys are nhl ready and he will be moving roste rguys, welli doubt but can hope. bototm line this will be almost the same team again next year unless a new gm is brought in.
