He is a good scrapper,on top of that he's a hard working player. I'd like to see him stay with the Leafs.

Ottawa wins 2-0.

Nearly ANOTHER fight.

Belak was chasing Neil all over the ice but Neil wouldn't drop 'em. Seems like Neil is afraid of Belak...

2-0 final.

Not a terrible game for the Leafs. They were badly outplayed in the 1st but it was pretty even in the 2nd and 3rd. Shots were about even I think.

Some random thoughts....

- Couldn't be more happy with the play of Colaiacovo. He was awesome out there. I think that was the best performance of any of the young defencemen so far- at both ends of the ice. He's bigger and stronger from last year. Nice end to end rush, took out Hossa 3 or 4 times one on one. Dominated play in the corner and behind the net.

- Nice to see Aki Berg drop the gloves with Bonk. Big, dumb Chara had to jump in. I would have liked to see that fight.

- Cereda played his best game so far, but that ain't sayin' much.

- Perrott impressed again.

- Renberg missed some glorious opportunities. If he didn't have such a big contract I'd say his job would be on the line- he hasn't played well at all.

- Chartier played pretty well for a guy who hasn't played much at this level. Could be an injury fill-in at some point this year.

2-nothing loss against Ottawa is not a HUGE loss.........even at the best of times the Leafs find Ottawa to be a tough nut to crack and some of their top regulars were out of the lineup tonight like Sundin and Mogilny.........

This is only the pre-season and the Leafs did the right thing dressing and playing alot of their kids on defence...they need to do this to find out who stays and who gets sent down to the AHL or even posibly junior.......having said that I agree with most everybody's posts on this thread regarding J.F.J. having to go out and pull the trigger on a major deal (maybe even possibly 2-deals) to land us some NHL experienced defencemen.......I honestly do think something is in the works and don't be surprised to see something happen before the start of the regular season..........

Next game Saturday Night here in Toronto against this same Ottawa club.........time for me to get out my Elton John CD and play his "Saturday Night is all right for fighting" tune.

You don't seem to understand, the Maple Leafs won that fight because Pushor was given a tryout just to take punches away from the grossly intelligent and cunning Wade "Guderian" Belak who draws up all the schematics for the Leafs systems and game plans. He took a few on the naugen at last years camp and look where it got us.

I watched the Pushor fight again. It actually didn't look like Giourx (sp?) landed very much at all.He was just swinging like a madman,he got one punch in that landed on Pushor's helmet. Pushor waited for Giourx to tire himself out, that's when Jamie landed some good ones on him!

DON'T WE HAVE MORE CUPS COMBINED THEN THEM ? just asking lol
whose the losers now?
You do realize that it's comments like that that begin Flame wars, right?

Besides, what's the number of cups have to do with the current team. Like us, they've won absolutely nothing in recent memory so I don't see how bringing up past cups helps our cause.

Although, I do agree when you say that only non-Leaf fans who claim that we plan parades. That's pretty much accurate. I don't know of any Leaf fan who has said the Leafs will win a cup.

You should qualify that last part...should read "I don't know of any KNOWLEDGABLE Leaf fan...."

I absolutely hate when we get fans using the Number of Stanley Cups won as the only measuring stick for how good that team is........there's 30-teams currently in the NHL and everyone of them would love to win the Cup but only one team can........the important thing here for me and the Maple Leafs is that at least with the current regime we now have running the show in Toronto at least we can say that they are TRYING to be competitive and trying to build a winner.......we couldn't really say that for the longest time here in Toronto.

Thanks very much! I can tell you that Fisher is among my favorite players too, and is one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of hanging out with. This guy gives it all on every single shift.
