If you don't think this entire season was a huge success and exceeded all expectations then you have missed the whole point of what has been going on with the Kings the last three seasons.
Yeah, they have hit a rough patch after the Olympic break. They are going to make the playoffs. Any playoff action is going to be extremely beneficial for players like Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, Richardson, Simmonds, Johnson, and Quick. It's kind of stupid to believe otherwise.
I'm not a cheerleader, but I'm not going to trash them because they are having a bad stretch over the last 5 or 6 games. I could just as easily say that the 8 games prior to the Olympic break is the "real" Kings. The truth is somewhere in between, and Lombardi still has a lot of work to do, but I like the big picture and the long term future of this team.
I have already said it a dozen times. This season is just not about this season. You might want to climb down off your high horse and give a little credit where credit is due. The guys on this team have for the most part played their butts off the entire season and have given the fans their money's worth.
Reading this I really admit that I got carried away and that this season has been full of success. But just watching this Stars game makes me wanna cry and reminds me of the last 2-3 seasons of the Kings with was REALLY depressing. I still would not say that we locked up a spot. But that is just my opinion. Does anyone think that IF the Kings make the playoffs(chances likely) that they could pull an Edmonton and make the finals? Just wondering....
Wow 5-6-2 since the Olympic break. What a meltdown. LOL chicken littles.
Kings need to simplify their game. Get it deep and cycle. When they are on their game they are one of the best cycling teams in the league. To do that you need puck support and they haven't done a good job of that lately.
