Arnott will play tonight, Grebeshkov possible for playoff return

Quote:
Preds coach Barry Trotz is saying that center Jason Arnott is probable for Tuesday’s game against Dallas, but that forward Joel Ward is likely to miss about a week due to the upper-body injury he suffered on Sunday.

Nick Spaling likely to be recalled if Arnott isn't ready to go tomorrow...

I'd rather see Spaling than see Belak start. No offense to Wade.

That isn't too bad considering. Hopefully Arnott will be better by tomorrow but if not then Thursday. And Ward will miss a lot of games but I'm glad it's only a week, it could be worse.

obviously Arny NOT concussed which is huge....

Ward out a week is fine... rest up, joel, and be ready to forecheck like a demon in the playoffs...

Good news on Arnott, that it isn't that serious even if we don't have him against Dallas we should get him back against Phoenix.

Ward out a week isn't that bad either, gets a rest and gets back a few games before the playoffs witch is also nice...

Let's just hope for NO MORE Injuries !!!

Injury update: Center Jason Arnott missed his fourth straight game and it's unclear when he'll return.

Arnott didn't work out or participate in Saturday's morning skate, and continues to feel the effects of what he believes was a concussion suffered last Saturday. The Preds captain missed 11 games late last season with a concussion, but hopes he won't sit out that long this time around.

wow. you knew it wasnt good when he didnt come back the first time.

Im glad he didnt foce it. We're in, so he just need to let himself heal... maybe come back for the finale just to shake off the rust, and be rested and ready for the playoffs.

I also think they are not rushing Ward because its pretty clear we are gonna make it

Right now the percentage for the Preds making the playoffs is 99.7%. It's all about seeding right now. In the minds of the management, making the playoffs means money. Frankly, I think Nashville has an equal chance against any of the top 4.

Out of Sharks, Hawks, Yotes, and Canucks, I'd rather us play the Canucks, BUT I think we do have a fairly equal chance against all four.

I wonder with his history if the thought of retirment is coming up? Not sure how I would feel if he did, but it would be interesting to see where we went. Have 4.5 mil off the books to ensure we keep Weber, sign Horns, etc. Choose a different captain and alternates. It would have a huge impact on our team. Could be great could be negative. Thoughts?

I think he will try to play out his contract here but after that who knows? His concussion history and questions about durability will likely affect the type of deal he could get in the summer of 2011

Concussions have been the hot topic for athletes and the Sports media for a little bit and that coverage might have Arnott thinking. Simply put, athletes are thinking about the long term consequences for the first time in a long time. After Mike Webster's rather tragic story. Athlete's are beginning to learn the brain is just as important as the rest of their body and is more important in the long term.

If that happens I'd say "pray Colin Wilson's ready to be a top-6 center".

Actually, the way things are looking, that question has already been answered. 4th on the team in FO% with 52.1%, 7g 6a in 29 games. Only thing that really needs to go up is ice time: 14 minutes per game. Arnott is 18 per game. What Nashville needs is to get healthy right before the playoffs. A Healthy Arnott, Grebs, Erat, Ward can do a lot for the playoff chances.

We have to have those guys healthy if we want to do well in the playoffs, especially Ward and Erat.

According to Trotz via Glennon's morning notes column...

Arnott remains out indefinitely, Ward could return as early as tonight, but definitely Thursday, and Erat has a chance to play tonight, but is much more likely to miss tonight's game and return Thursday as well...

wow that sounds extrememly promising about Erat... assuming that if they didnt call someone up last night they are pretty sure one of the two(Erat or Ward) can go
