Backman's got tremendous hands but as you pointed out, he is very undersized. He needs to work on his maturity, since he was sidelined for the end of Yale's season and post-season after breaking his ankle while doing some stupid drunk college **** with his buddies. No idea if he can hack it in the bigs, but we've seen small guys with hands make it before, so I guess they're gonna see if he can do it.

That's what college is for. Hasn't everyone who went to college done some "stupid drunk college ***** with his buddies?" No worries here in that regard.

Yes, but I would say that jumping into a drained pool and shattering your ankle on the eve of your playoff run in the last months of your college career is pretty stupid.

Oh, sure. It's dumb, but most of us have done some pretty dumb things ourselves. I only meant to point out that shouldn't be held against him.

I lol'd at the thought of that. That is the definition of dumb. College definitely is a place to get your drunken moments out of the way, but the fact that it wasn't just a run of the mill night (assuming what you say is true, I have no reason to doubt) doesn't reflect brilliantly on the kid. Although I'm a little more interested if half-pint can hack it in the AHL than his mental makeup; if he gets to the show then he likely fixed any potential maturity flaws.
