3/29/10 - Los Angeles @ Minnesota - 8 PM CDT - FSN NORTH (HD)
After taking the weekend (and part of the week) off, the Wild return to the Xcel Energy Center to battle with the playoff-bound Kings of Los Angeles. With injuries piling up for the home team and the team playing for pride, it will be interesting to see what Minnesota club shows up. There's still some time for players to make impressions for next season. Other than that...the game is in HD!
Team Preview:
Kings: Hoping to face the Sharks.
Wild: Hoping to get on the golf course.
Music that sums up how I feel about tonight's game:
Could have gone with LL Cool J, Notorious BIG, Mamas and the Papas, Randy Newman or any of 10,000 LA songs, but I'm going with a fake fast-food chain from Long Beach. Need to add something to the punch and pie!
We lose this game I think, but ya never know. I'd like to see a strong effort as I always want to see, but the games dwindling down now, all of us don't care near as much as we used to. I want them to win, but I wouldn't mind seeing them lose out to get a higher pick.
Looks like he might. Koivu skated in warmups this morning and feels fine, but Richards is still clearing it with the trainers according to Russo.
Other injury news:
-Hnidy practiced yesterday, so that's a good sign. [EDIT: It's a good sign, but he's still out for tonight]
-Latendresse is a go.
-Kobasew is out after re-injuring his knee.
-Zidlicky (arm) is a gametime decision. If he's a no-go, Nate Prosser will take his place and make his NHL debut.
-Harding's out as the Wild recalled Khudobin.
-Havlat is still not injured.

Reason: Clarification
Yeah, but it's not like it matters so much now. We are so injury ravaged right now. It kinda sucks, but that's okay, I like to see the young guys play.
I just don't want to be bored out of my mind when the game is mostly played in the Minnesota zone and that's one problem with having half the blue line out.
Other tidbits:
-Russo has a blog up for those interested about the state of Marian Gaborik, the Abbotsford Heat's coach and other things that are closer to home.
-Opposition GDT
-The Kings were founded in 1967 as an expansion team by Gary Bettman Jack Kent Cooke in an attempt to take advantage of the large number of transplanted Canadians and people from the northeastern United States.
-Did not get the TPS report on who is injured.
-Have as many division titles as the Wild.
-Are not fans of watching a snoozefest.
-Hollywood apparently is not its own city.
-SLang is apparently a jinx.
-Los Angeles is nicknamed the "City of Angels"
-When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am...
-Former Kings owner Frank McNall was instrumental in helping Gary Bettman become commissioner of the league in 1993. He was also indirectly instrumental in getting Barry Melrose a gig on ESPN and Montreal its last Stanley Cup.
-Don't have 911 on speed dial despite it being an emergency number.
-Hosted the 2002 All-Star Game.
-See Boogaard and Clutterbuck as "notable" dirty players. And to think I thought there was nothing notable about Minnesota besides Prince...
-Traded the greatest player of all time to St. Louis for what amounted to scraps. Apparently that was karma for making Gretzky advertise for Burger King

-No Bernier, no win...and there's no Bernier.
Always enjoy these Gopher, cracks me up every time.
Looks like your GDT wasn't totally correct, the start time is 8:10 I believe. Nah, I'm just kidding. Watching Vs. in anticipation of our game.
Some thoughts on the first 2 periods cuz i'm not gonna watch the 3rd...
Burns' goal is exactly why you put up with the occasional bad pinch
Impressed with Falk, hopefully they can keep giving him looks
Wellman needs to see who is with him on the 2 on 1 and shoot the damn thing, I wanted to see the kid rip it. Bummer his first NHL goal went into his own net, hopefully the ones at the other end start going in
Overall, a solid effort tonight against a team that needs a win. Would like to move up a couple spots for the summer but good to see em fight.
That is all
