Currently, Trotz is at 409 wins which means he WILL pass Jack Adams next year and Most likely will pass Brian Sutter. In 2 years, if he keeps up his pace, he will be at the 500 coaching wins mark. With one team, an expansion team. Would 500 wins lock Trotz as an HOF coach OR does he have to win a cup? Number of cups is hurting him but Neilson is in win no cups and 460 wins.....Problem is that with his death from cancer the cynical can say he was voted in because of this.
Won't happen because Nashville gets very little national attention to support the nomination. If they do it's negative attention, and Canadians don't even think we should be in the league. I don't expect Trotz to lose any sleep over this one.

I've never met these Canadian Nashville haters. And I live in Toronto.
got to win the cup at least once. can't get in HOF meerly based on a good win average. trotz does good with what he has, but good doesn't get you there. HOF means to me you must be great.
as for haters....if nashville wins the cup you will see the hockey faithful up in arms. much worse than when carolina or TB. really sticks in their craw when a non-traditional team is doing better than those that GOD ordained as the center of the hockey universe.
Trotz, good coach, getting better. HOF, in a word, no.
Doesn't mean he won't reach there at some point but he needs to do more than he has at this point to even be considered. Let's start with a playoff series win. Maybe win a few rounds. Even then, that wouldn't warrant a HOF entry. I think Trotz has done well to adapt this year, better than in years past. As a coach, it's a learning process for them all the time because the roster is constantly evolving. I'm rooting for him to do well this year, not only for his sake, but for the teams sake.

I've met more than enough Canadian Nashville haters, and I live in Taiwan.
As for the topic at hand: Personally think he's at least on the right track to be a candidate. He has coached the team from it's inception, through thick and thin, through a lockout, through owner change, through possibly having the team relocate, etc. Hopefully with some playoff success it will help his cause.
I like Canadians, some of best friends in the world are from Vancouver. But there is a loud vocal minority that doesn't like non-traditional markets such as Nashville and are always ready to move them if they have a down year lol
Anyways as far as Trotz, don't you think he needs to win atleast ONE playoff series before we enshrine him? He is the Marty Schottenheimer of the NHL IMO until he does lol

I'd say more like Wade Phillips although Wade finally broke thru this year and won a playoff game. Schottenheimer at least won some playoff games over the years, just never the big one. Andy Reid is gonna get that label soon too.
I'm from Canada and I'm a fan of the Nashville Predators but all the Quebecers thinks that nashville isn't a place for hockey and this is another fail by Bettman..! And for Barry Trotz I don't think so but like rollingpredfan said.. He needs to start to win one series and after that we will see..
