GDT: Admirals @Chicago[Atlanta] 7:30CST

the 2nd of back to back to back games tonight for the Admirals...Admirals come into this game 6-1-1 against Chicago and Lehtonen for the year....chicago has really struggled on the pk,and they take lots of penalties,leading the league in numbers of times shorthanded...and the admirals have really taken advantage of that so far this year...gamache has scored something like 6 goals and 12 points against lehtonen this year,many of those have been on the pp,but he's been the main wolves killer..

expect a rough game,and plenty of fights tonight...so you would expect to see yablonski dressed...but noel has the problem right now of who to scratch honestly,with the lundbohm-smithson-tootoo line and also severson-hrkac playing really well and segal and upshall actually healthy scratches last night...so no telling who dresses tonight honestly

might sound strange,but these last three tight defensive games tootoo might well have been the admirals most dangerous offensive player,certainly generated the most chances in that time(1g/1a).

it is possible wyatt smith was injured last night,not getting any shifts late in the game..if so would expect upshall to center shishkanov and pivko(or segal)

I guess Tootoo's development is one "ray of sunshine" to come out of this lockout mess. He needed this time in Milwaukee.

Hammer has used his time wisely as well.

think of all the goalies in the AHL that get all the publicity;

lehtonen..39 games, 23-15-1,4 shutouts,2.33 gaa,.927 save %
fleury......35 games,19-9-3, 3 shutouts,2.48 gaa, .906 save %
LaBarbera.34 games,21-9-1, 4 shutouts,2.05 gaa, .925 save %

then look at finley;

finley.......41 games,26-12-2,4 shutouts,2.12 gaa,.926 save %

initial lineups out...

finley in net for MIL
M.Garnett in net for CHI(no lehtonen,maybe because the ads are 5-1-1 against him)nope,lehtonen has the flu

ads scratches look like wyatt smith(some type of injury last night),henry(eye),and severson(healthy scratch)

1st PERIOD RECAP:

crap...2 minutes in and CHI gets an odd man rush and Larose scores his 19th...1-0 CHI..

evidently an intercepted pass at the blueline from either klein or hamhuis was the turnover,caught admirals at the end of a long shift and in the middle of a change

then admirals come right back and under pressure causes an ugly goal,garnett falling into the goal with the puck under him

0-1 2:00 1st CHI Larose(19) from Larson and Maltais
1-1 5:19 1st MIL Haydar(21) from Hamhuis(26) and Gamache(45)

then Hamhuis takes a boarding penalty and on the pp Vigier beats finley on a nice screened wrister;

1-2 12:03 1st CHI Vigier(18) (power play) from Bohonos and Santala

then Hamhuis takes another one,and Lundbohm joins him,ads down 2 men for 1:20

ads almost kill it,but simon makes a play to larson who scores just as the penalty expires(so no pp)

1-3 15:48 1st CHI Larson(19) from Simon and Hawgood

then the ads come right back...smithson makes a great pass to shishkanov driving the slot,shishkanov blasts it by garnett

2-3 16:31 1st MIL Shishkanov(14) from Smithson(9) and Klein(7)

wow...what an up and down period...18 shots given up by MIL in the first and 4 power plays...have to tighten up

2ND PERIOD RECAP:

Upshall steals a puck at the blueline,makes the pass to Shishkanov breaking in...boom,he beats garnett cleanly..and just like that it's tied 3-3

3-3 MIL 1:30 2nd Shishkanov(15) from Upshall(15) and Suter(10)

pivko sounds rusty,has flubbed two 2 on 1's tonight

shishkanov with a couple of shots at a natural hattrick,but cann't convert

tootoo-smithson-lundbohm after a quiet first,have a couple of strong forechecking shifts and generate couple of chances

ads with a strong pp shift,draw a 24 second 5 on 3...which CHI promptly kills off,admirals now with no pp goals in the last 4 games

much better period for the ads,fewer scoring chances given up,finley played much better...shots now 27-20 CHI after two,MIL 0 for 4 on the pp,CHI 1 for 5...

3rd PERIOD RECAP:

you expect ads to win or lose this game tonight on the pp....ads with the leading pp in the league,chicago takes more pk than any other team...and MIL has scored something like 16 pp goals on them in the first 8 games...and here tonight ads cann't get one so far...

damn it..and of course,ads give up a shorthanded 2 on 1 goal...

3-4 CHI 2:45 3rd Stewart(11)(shorthanded) from Garnett...(their frigging goalie with an assist,because hutchinson's slap shot bounced all the way out to center ice ooff his pads and stewart got a breakaway off of the rebound)

damn for some reason the defense has left finley out on an island tonight...34 shots given up,two 2 on 1's given up,one breakaway..and there's still over 10 minutes to go in the game

under 7 to go,things look tough...tootoo-smithson-lundbohm with a good chance,chicago with chance after chance though

under 5 minutes..time for all out frantic hockey...not like we could play much worse defensively than we have anyway

HOLY COW...tootoo with a play to lundbohm who knocks it out of midair and ties it 4-4!

Sometimes it's just not your night. Give Chicago a break. They suck; their parent team doesn't draft all that well, and they have to goon it up to survive in the AHL

4-4 MIL 15:28 Lundbohm(5) from Tootoo(7) and Hutchinson(28)

huge goal from lundbohm late...tootoo made the play...2nd night in a row these two have combined on a key goal

41 shots for CHI already,sounds funny when you give up 4 goals but finley has saved MIL tonight

CHI takes a penalty with 44 seconds to go in regulation..

ads carry the pp over into OT(guy got the penalty for grabbing gamache from the bench as he skated by)...1:16 chance to win this one..

which CHI kills,gamache,shishkanov,zanon all with good chances to win it,but cann't get it done

admirals outshoot them 6-0 in the OT but cann't put it away...shootout now

I think a monkey with anuses for hands could shut out the Ads in a shootout. For some reason or another, those boys just don't mesh well with the shootout system. I think we should start trying the Tootoo's of the world. He'd just skate down there and slap it as hard as he can.

Thank God for the Ads that the playoffs don't have a shootout system. It's ridiculous how much more talent the Ads have than Chicago both in net and in the shooting positions. And it still doesn't matter.

I was at this game and let me tell you that brian finley was hung out to dry on 3 of those 4 goals. He played a very good game and impressed me quite a bit. I was also very impressed with shishkanov. he was all over the place giving hits, taking hits, moving the puck, shooting, playing good D. you name it. It was pretty disappointing to lose this one, but in all honesty had kotyk been in net thise would have been a blowout.
