Can't wait to see Weise in a Ranger uniform.

Maybe he'll be to this years team what Ryan Callahan was to the team a few years ago.

Cool! PA has played great for us, why not Weise?

Also, I find myself not missing Boyle at all...

Nice. Locke got his shot and didn't do anything. Good to see the next guy in line get his chance.

Have liked Weiss since we picked him. He's going to be a solid NHLer.

BTW. Im pretty sure that was our last callup.Meaning if we get yet another injury we have nobody to call up.Playoffs or regular season.

I didn't think emergency callups counted against that.

I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out like Dubinsky's first shot or Callahan's. Looks okay out there, but a little out of place. The second recall is the more telling one.

They are determined to not play Lisin, lol.

Well he's better for the role we'll be using him in than Locke or Lisin, for sure.

I think one of brooks articles said that you only get 4 callups after the olympic break (i guess the normal case is trading deadline)

unless theres a emergency stash of callups' option

From 13.12 of the CBA:

Quote:
(l) During the period following 3:00 p.m. New York time of the fortieth (40th)
day immediately preceding the final day of the Regular Season no Player may be
Recalled from Loan to a club of any league affiliated with the NHL, except that:

(i) A Club may exercise four Recalls from a club or clubs of any
league affiliated with the NHL, of Player(s) listed on its own
Reserve List.

(ii) Players may be Recalled under Article 13.12(m).

(iii) Players may be Recalled upon completion of the regular season
and playoff schedule of the club to which they were Loaned.

(m) Emergency Recall.

(i) A Player on Loan to a club of any league affiliated with the League
may be Recalled from such Loan under emergency conditions at
any time for the duration of the emergency only following which
he must be returned promptly to the club from which he was
Recalled.

(ii) Emergency conditions shall be established when the playing
strength of the Loaning Club, by reason of incapacitating injury or
illness or by League suspension to its Players is reduced below the
level of two (2) goalkeepers, six (6) defensemen and twelve (12)
forwards. Proof of the existence of the emergency conditions
including the incapacity shall be furnished to the Commissioner of
the League upon request made by him.

(iii) For the purpose of establishing the existence of emergency
conditions at any time, to support the Recall of a Player for
participation in any Playoff Game, it shall be deemed that the
Player(s) on Loan following 3:00 p.m. New York time of the
fortieth (40th) day immediately preceding the last day of the
Regular Season are continuing on Loan for the remainder of the
season notwithstanding that the Loaned club(s) may have been
eliminated from further play for the season.
In other words, you get 4 recalls after the deadline, unless there is an injury which would put you below the level of available players to ice a complete team. You also get to recall players whose seasons have ended.

you sure you are on the right team's board?

Dale Weise is 6'4", 220 defenseman who has scored 18 goals and added 59 assists with the Syracuse Wolfpack of the IHL (j/k)

Well Philly's winning now which isn't good but as for the whole emergency callup thing; if Hartford doesn't make the playoffs since all the salaries are paid you can technically callup the entire Wolf Pack roster.

They've done that a couple of times before.

Yea, isn't it called the taxi sqad or something. I think Korpedo came off of it for game 5 of the Pens series when he scored.

Good for Weise he deserves it. Locke was invisible he didn't do anything to earn more minutes. I hoping either Weise or Byers are on the 4th line next year with Boyle and Prust.

Yeah well,... I could read the profile too. And it says he's a winger, not a d-man. Plus you have his stats all wrong.

My question was,... what is his game like? Why are so many here who responded, happy he was called? What does he bring to the team? What are his skill sets, his M.O.

Of course I'm not bashing the guy, really appreciate his play in Hartford, but if he wasn't going to be trusted with a bigger role, like PAP, someone else should've been chosen.

On the other hand, Rangers had won every game with Locke, so I guess it's a non-factor.
I agree, not sure why Locke was the call-up to begin with. Now the Rangers have no more call-ups left for the rest of the season and playoffs if I'm not mistaken.

well, then we've gotta have at least 2 more injuries on top of the 3 current ones to be eligible for a call-up. Gilroy would be playing forward before we got another call-up.

Dude, I was just kidding

Weise is a winger, plays hard, goes to dirty areas, scores and sets up on a permanent basis, is a hard-hitter, quick skater, has 5 SH goals, hard worker, likes to collect misconducts for giving the ref an earful and will drop 'em if needed. He even wore the "A" a couple of times this season if i recall correctly.

A lot of fans here that look beyond the plate (i.e. the Wolf Pack) think he's had a great season in the AHL and believe he deserves a shot in the NHL

I'm excited to see what he can do.

If anything he's a pretty physical guy right? I like his size.

He is a hard-working forward who will drop the gloves if need be and is a great team-player. He can PK and is a North-South NA power forward. If I had to pick a player who he resembles on the Rangers right now I would Say Callahan with a little less offensive ability and more size/strength. Both are great team-players and get in on the forecheck to reek havoc.

I would put his ceiling at a 3rd line winger who will drive hard to the net and control play down low while being able to contribute to the PK and drop the gloves.

I'd love to see him reach 15g-15A potential with being a regular PKer and someone who can turn the momentum of a game with a hit or fight.

If it comes down to the home and home with the Flyers, hopefully he can cause some havoc.
