Brashear for Tom Preissing

In the off-season I think this makes a lot of sense for both the Rangers and Avs. Preissing as far as I know has been in the minors this year and probably will be next year as well. His cap hit is $2.75 mil. Colorado does not spend to the cap anyway. So they will save $1.35 mil in real dollars and the Rangers will send Preissing down and won't have to worry about the Brashear cap hit. What do you think?

Yeah, this would make sense for the Rangers although I am not sure Dolan would want to spend 9.25 million on 2 AHL defensemen.

I think any proposal that sends Brashear or Redden the other way is wanted by almost all Rangers fans.

Unfortunately Brashear passed through waivers for free so i doubt a team would be willing to take on a pathetic contract for an AHL (if that) player.

Brashear is done and although i was somewhat optimistic about the signing i admit i was wrong and once again Sather has fudged us over cap-wise

Not true.

If we take on 2.75 demotable salary in exchange for 1.4 million in non-demotable salary, someone might take that.

The other team saves real $, we save cap space

We can't give him away for free.. but we can take on someone else's burden for it. the OP's trade is essentially "We'll pay you 1.35 million to take our cap hit"
