Yup. He's certainly had his struggles this year, but has definitely been way better lately.

re: JXC's post...I think he is already coming back strong. He has looked waaay better as of late. If Boucher keeps it together, Coburn continues to come on, Roo - Richards - Reimer, Gagne - Briere -Leino lines keep kicking ass and Carter comes back....this team could make some noise in the play-offs yet!

I wonder how Hartnell - Carter - Carcillo would look with the fourth line staying Powe/Asham - Betts - Lappy...

Holmgren only gives away 2nd round picks, he doesn't acquire them. Of course, if he did, he would find a way to package it as soon as possible, just so he can keep up his track record of getting rid of 2nd rounders.

Only if he takes ****ing Hartnell. Jesus, I almost hit my kid when he took that penalty in the third.

If a deal for a more established goalie can not be made, I wouldn't object to a Coburn for Schneider and a pick deal with Vancouver.

It's actually true. She was sitting next to me and I jumped up and swung my arms out in a big old WTF gesture...missed her lil head by about 3 inches.

Pretty much what we said. After he blew a breakaway, we said "if only he had a pair of hands.... and a brain".

JSaq, perhaps you should tell the kid to sit a few feet away from Dad during Flyers games! lol

My dad used to throw stuff during games when I was a kid. He isn't so bad anymore.

The guy is a -36 this season. I know its a bad Oilers team but that is pretty indicitive of the type of player he is.
That said, I would not have a problem if we held onto Coburn. 1 or 2 year deal at 1.75 max.

I can see Coburn get over 3 mil on a contract. With having 48mil tied up already and having to sign some more players can your team afford him.

How about Cogs and Nashville's 2nd rounder.

I wouldn't trade Coburn unless he was asking for too much.

Hypothetically, if we did trade him, the least I would accept is a first. Or at least a pretty good prospect.

19 points will not get you over 3 million, unless he is giving us a lot of years. If it is like a 5 year deal at 3 mil per, It would be fine. But if he signed 2 years at 3 or more, it's a bad deal.

I see him getting:

2 years at 2mil-2.2mil

Unless his contract demands are outrageous (more then $3MM) I would keep him (ideally at $2.5MM OR LESS). The Flyers have a luxury of having two minutes eating monsters in KImo & Pronger so take advantage of it and let guys like Parent, Coburn, Krajicek develop.

I would move Carle, even though I like him, he is one of the few players making significant dollars w/o a NMC/NTC. Replace him with a veteran like Sean O'Donnell type.

I'm surprised the Oil would offer that, is Cogliano any good defensively?

I hope you're right. I hope he takes anything below 2.5 -- that would be a win for us, and it would be reasonable. But I donno, I just have a bad feeling about it. Holmgren does like to throw money at people to keep them happy. Though he is an RFA so things will be ironed out.

i agree with holding onto coburn but if a deal was happening i dont think eberle is on the table and id want a player and not just a pick. osullivan wasnt that bad in la but then signed a bad deal and doesnt fit well in edmonton. probably the only edmonton guy i could see taking a chance on

Even the 2 to 2.2 million is too much for what Coburn has done over the past two seasons. The guy doesn't deserve a raise and should give back some of his salary. He deserves no more than 1.5 and that's being generous.

As for Edmonton, I'm not sure if there's anyone there that I'd want. Everyone mentions Cogliano, but I'd like to see the Flyers acquire a true third line center. I thought Marc Antoine Pouliot was going to be that guy in Edmonton, but he always seems to be hurt or just can't put it together.

Anyways, if there's a deal to be made for Coburn, a physical third line centerman who is a face off demon. But good luck finding one of those.....

he wasnt very good in LA either. I saw alot of him in the minors and he was soft, he was lazy and had that entitlement to him like he didnt belong in the minors at the time. When he was in LA and camp broke he thought a spot was going to be handed to him. When he was sent back to Manchester he was terrible. I am glad he was dealt out of the LA organization and I dont want him in the Philly organization either.
