Im dying to see how many *******s around the league in terms of media pick us to win it all. Probably some of those same *******s who counted us out of the playoffs hoped right on our bandwagon.
Tell that to Illitch, selling playoff tickets for the 19th consectuive season.
Anyone got an idea on how much an owner will bring in per playoff series?
Tell that to fans of the Atlanta Braves or the St. Louis Blues
I think it's psychologically important for the Detroit area to simply have the Wings in the playoffs. It's a springtime institution. The air is getting warm, the sun is out, you think of getting some ice cream and the Wings are in action at the Joe.
Now with me having said that, watch the Wings get swept in the 1st round whilst it's snowing in Detroit.
I know it's supposed to be bad luck to "choose" your oponent but I'm not superstitious. You gotta wonder if Babcock is gonna make any efforts to avoid certain 1st round match-ups (aka Lou and the Canucks) by resting players.
The only surefire way to get the 7th or 8th seed is to play Osgood in the remaining games.
Here's how I rank the possible match-ups from best to worst based on both travel and opponent toughness.
The one team I dont want in the first round, Vancouver, we currently slated for. Not that they scare me, I just dont think we've really played good against them all year, regardless of the scoreboard and wins...

I feel the same, they have out played the Wings in all but maybe 1 game this season. And regardless of what people say about Luongo, I've seen him stand on his head too many times not to think he could steal a game or 2. There is also the travel and rabid Canadian fans to deal with.
Woot! Was hoping the Avs or Preds would get knocked out and Calgary in (since I'm in Calgary) but this way I don't have to divide my attention between my two teams
Man you guys are too modest. Now that the Wings are healthy, they've gotta be considered the favorites to come out of the West.
not sure i have ever heard DRW fans described as too modest , but thanks.
and good luck in the playoffs.
i have much sympathy for SJ fans. DRW were the chokers of the NHL until '97. also did not win the cup for 42 years, and only made the playoffs twice from '67-'83.

Well, in this thread anyway.
I know there are a lot of us Sharks fans who look to the Wings of the early to mid-90s for solace, but I just don't think this team has it in them to make that kind of turnaround. And I sure as hell don't want the Wings in the first round.
