KHL Financial Concerns 2009-2010

http://communities.canada.com/edmont...the-ropes.aspx

Lada Togliatti is on the ropes financially; many players/staff owed 6 months of wages, or more. Hoping for financial fusion 11/1, but players might not have payment until 11/15.

(And thread about last season's financial issues: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?p=18428332)

Lada has been having problems for a while now. They almost did not make to the KHL this season, they requested Putin's assistance on the situation based on the historical value of the club, and got their wish - they were allowed to play this season, but due to AutoVAZ's huge debt, and now the team is left with virtually no sponsor, their financial problems are a lot more visible. Personally, this BS needs to stop, team needs to be relocated. They still play in inadequate, even by KHL standards, arena, and yet some how get by into the league. Their biggest fan base is AutoVAZ workers, many of whom are being laid off, I do not believe a lot of them could afford to go to the games at this time. I think Sochi would be a good place for this Lada team.

Ohh - a mix of Phoenix, Uniondale, and Detroit.

Quick, someone call JB - the Hamilton Ladas.

Uh, is there even such a thing as relocation in European hockey? Usually when teams have financial problems they just drop down to a lower tier league with more affordable payrolls and try to work their way back up through promotion.

Of course this is all moot though in a case like the KHL where the entire league is propped up by corporate-backed politicians.

Depends who the sponsors are. Atlant Mytischi is the old Khimik Voskresensk
Vityaz has moved around a bit...HC MVD Balashikha used to be in Podolsk.

if i understood it correctly, the KHL wants to implement lower 'fixed' salaries for the players and more/higher bonusses in case of good results
