Love for Doughty (again)

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=524472

just part
Quote:
Best Defenseman: Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings -- The Kings chose Doughty with the second pick in the 2008 Entry Draft, but even GM Dean Lombardi couldn't have pictured the young defenseman would become this good this fast.

At age 20, Doughty leads the team's defensemen with 15 goals and 57 points, has a plus-19 rating and plays just under 25 minutes a game -- not to mention his performance as the youngest player on Canada's gold medal-winning team at the Winter Olympics.
They also pick the Pacific first and second teams. Quick in on the second team but what I found funny was an insert was an article with TM defending his goalie.

So great to have a guy like Doughty to build a defense around for many years to come.

But IDK about choosing Boyle over Keith as the runner up best defenseman in the West, when arguably Keith may have the inside track, over even Doughty, for the Norris this season.

Duncan Keith 80GP 14G 54A 68Pts 22+ 49PIM 3PP 1SH 1GWG 210S 6.7 S%
Dan Boyle 74GP 15G 43A 58Pts 5+ 70PIM 6PP 0SH 3GWG 175S 8.6S%

Its close but I would have gone with Keith.

Nevertheless, my hope is that Doughty gets due consideration for the Norris. If he is not a top three finalist, I'm calling "Shenanigans."

Not enough. Especially considering that with 3 games to play, HE IS THE 3RD HIGHEST GOAL SCORING CENTER IN THE NHL. 7th in total points among centers.

So much for Kopi not being a top 10 center in the league. He's damn near top 5 already.

True. But those guys on the list are no slouches. Thornton is Thornton, and Brad Richards is quietly having an amazing season.

That being said, anytime there's a "Kopitar vs. _____" poll or general discussion thread, Kopitar gets slammed as a crappy player.

Let's hope these playoffs he shuts some people up!

Interesting that Nabokov, Bobby Ryan, and Getzlaf did not make either list.
