“I’m trying to avoid (Smith). He more falls than anything. I didn’t make contact with him,” said Neil. “It’s a hit-or-miss type of thing. He gets up and starts throwing punches. I wish Ohlund would have let us go. It would have been pretty good.
“If (a goalie is) going to throw punches, they should be free game. You shouldn’t have a guy grabbing me from behind.”

That's the only thing I could find, found it in the Ottawa Sun

Thanks a bunch. Looked to me from the replay like he was just trying to tie Smith up, but judging by that quote I was too forgiving and he just didnt get a chance to throw any punches lol

When a goalie is that far out of his crease, I'd LOVE to see them get hit if they're handling the puck!

Why do Tampa Bay fans (and their team) hate us so much? I find them so forgettable that it actually surprises me when they talk about how much they hate our team. What exactly has them so fired up?

I feel ya. I dont get it. A game is never significant from a rivalry standpoint with Tampa.

We beat them in the playoffs? That's a good reason to hate a team.

I think it was Neil's turtle job that iced the series for us.

But what do I know.

I was wondering this, too. I went in one of their GDT's against us earlier this year, and they're all taking shots at the Sens. No idea why. I'd have thought we'd be cool with each other.

Having Lightning fans hate you is like having Albino people hate you. When the hell are you actually going to meet an Albino? If you do, its rare.

Remember when Tortorella was coaching, and the Sens would beat the Lightning every time? Those memories last a long time for the losing side.

I remember Torts on TSN back when ppl were smart enough not to hire him, and he said something along the lines of him remembering back when we were in our prime, we'd walk into their rink and we had a look that we just knew we were gonna beat them. They'd play the game of their lives and we'd still beat em...I guess that's good enough reason

Love that line, nothing against them, but Campoli would be a lot more useful joining the rush with Spezza and Alfi then three guys who create most of their chances off of dump ins and cycles.

It's the other way around with Phillips who almost never joins an offensive rush when we have creative guys like Spezza or Alfi gaining the blueline. What frustrates me the most is when we win the face off in the offensive zone only to see Phillips or Volchenkov dump the puck back in.

I know it's impossible to always have the people you want on the ice. I like that Philchenkov got 12 goals and 35 pts this year but their role is to shutdown the opposing team's best players and it seems like they get most of the 5 on 5 time on ice with the first line. I'd rather have Campoli or Karlsson producing offense with our best players than being on the ice with grinders.

I just feel like we are not using the players (Forwards Vs Defensmen) at the best of their abilities.
