That goal was incredible for a guy on a slump.
Hartnell was throwing his weight around, but I don't know too much about the other stuff. I just saw Hartnell, again, trying to make plays outside of his abilities.

The answer to why Hartnell has been slumping is very simple:

It's been too long since we've played the Pens. Hartnell is powered by Letang's fingers.
Nom nom nom.

You do realize how far into the season we are and how long people have been saying the exact same thing you just said? This season is essentially a wash for Hartnell. Stick him on the 3rd or 4th line and don't let him see any special teams time. Its time for JVR to take Hartnell's minutes on the power play.

Maybe he is going to have a franzen play-offs. I wouldn't bet against it. The playoffs are built for players like him

The playoffs are built for players who take stupid penalties?

But really, if he gets hot (which I doubt) move him up, but as for now he should be one of the last guys on the bench, or maybe the first guy in the press box.

May i refer us back to this. Hartnell is putting us in a hole every night that the PK has to drag us out of. This is without thinking about his god-awful play almost every night on top.

Get this liabilty out of Philadelphia.

I don't think Hartnell ever senses what moment and time frame the game is in.. In important stages he chooses to act like a total retard.

or, he gets so caught up in the moment he gets overexcited and just needs to crosscheck someone. its like a dog that gets really happy to see you and pees everywhere. that is scott hartnell.

I find that his benching would lead him to be eventually waived after the season is over, which will help dump the salary for us and I'm sure someone would want him for 2.1 million, instead of 4.2. I think Boosh should be benched as well, let Caron or Backlund in and show us what they got. At least Backlund, mainly because he can participate in the playoffs... I think anyways.

If Hartnell gets waived, Leino can fill his place just fine. Way smarter and way better hands and faster feet.

If he was waived, the team that claimed him would be on the hook for all 4.2 million (unless he was sent to the minors, not claimed, then recalled.) At that point he would go through re-entry waivers in which the claiming team would only be on the hook for half the salary (and the Flyers on the hook for the other half). However I can't see that ever happening. Despite his bad play this season, if they wanted to get rid of him there would still be a market for him, and I don't think his NTC would be too much of an issue.

Backlund can play in the playoffs, Caron cannot.

If this red ehaded rubber scrubber is int helineup tomorrow i hope he is the main driver that cost them to lose(doubtful as boucher blows). There is no justifyable reason for Leino to be sitting while this pos plays on. Reagrdless of the outcome i hope shooter does the right thin and resigns if he is not fired, he is an utter failure in 95% of every aspect of a GM.

2 goals in 36 games now, 10 points in 27 games.

Yet he keeps getting top PP time and is out there last minute with an empty net. I really don't understand.

I'm hanging my head in shame for calling him my playoff sleeper.

Should have known better.

2 assists (both on PP), -5 in 7 games.

Same here. He really has been brutal. I have kept saying to everyone he'll pick it up he'll pick it up. Well, he's making me look like an idiot because he honestly is one of our worst players right now. I don't think he should be benched, but definitely no higher than 4th line.

What it's time to do is relegate him to a checking line and leave him there. And he should be out there on the PP, and should have his ass planted firmly in front of the net the entire time. Lavi's line bingo tonight was a joke. Tonight was the kind of game that was close enough that the line combos and chemistry mattered big time. Lavi deserves plenty of blame for the loss. He couldn't even figure out who to send out for the PP....too much PP time was spent with no one in front of the net, and Hartnell and JVR both on the bench. That was a problem, and it's on Lavi. And what happened to sending Pronger down low?? They could at least have been doing that. There were times that Richards and Pronger were both on the ice for the PP, and nobody was in front. That's where, at times, Pronger should be shifting in front and Richards to the point.
