That put a deflated expression on my face.

Me too. I'd love to see Justin Williams back.

Now this is a move I can get behind. We've been lacking a legit top line winger since he started to fall victim to injuries. Decent chance we bring him back if LA is foolish enough to let him get to UFA status.

Jokinen - Staal - Ruutu
Boychuk - Sutter - Williams
Bowman - Dalpe - Osala

.... I think I need new pants.

Two things - one, why go for a retread like Williams when the common knowledge is that he's injury prone? Two, really with that third line? Maybe in two years, but not next year. They'd get run over, literally and figuratively.

I think he's talking 2 seasons from now, heading into the 11-12 season. Williams becomes a UFA after next season. So it would give Dalpe, Bowman and Osala next year in the AHL then we'd head into the 2011-2012 season.

I am very hesitant in bringing Williams back. Love the guy, he was one of my favorites when he was here, just seemed like he could do it all. But truth be told, he can't stay healthy. The only way I'm interested in bringing him back to begin the 2011-2012 season is if he plays healthy next season with no major setbacks. If he doesn't, I want nothing to do with him. Heck, even if he plays 82 games next season I'm still uncertain. It would have to be a smart deal so we're not stuck paying him to sit in the press box for an extended period of time.

Trust me, only one I want anywhere near a 3rd line next year would be Osala. Now the year after it's fair game and that would be a pretty nice 3rd line for 2011-12.

And believe me, if Williams has ANY kind of injury problems next year then I want no part of him. I've just always been of the belief that most of his injuries are more due to **** luck then anything else.

The real important thing in that video: He's still being called Jason Williams.

I definitely think we should talk to Chicago about one of Sharp, Versteeg, Ladd or Byfuglien. It's likely at least one of them is moved this offseason even though they got Barker off the books at the deadline this year. Of course each player has a different value but I think we have the assets to get one of them. The thing is none of them are cheap (JR cheap, I mean) so I'm not sure it would ever happen.

Of those, I'd be most interested in Byfuglien. He's versatile, playing both wing and defense. He's big, he's physical, and he can score. He's exactly what JR was looking for when he drafted Paradis.

Playing wing and D is only really useful in fantasy hockey. And IIRC, he hasn't played D in the nhl for a while.

Nah, Byfuglien has been playing D (paired with Keith) lately for the 'Hawks since they've lacked depth there. He has been pretty damn good there too.

Frankly, I don't know why he ever left. I know Chicago pushed him there, but he's able to use his toughness and size much more from back there. Plus, his major offensive aspects can still be utilized from the point.
