Girardi was coming after Hartnell after a big, clean hit. Taking Girardi off the ice is great but a smart player would have drawn an instigator.

Any normal player would have done that but Hartnell lacks discipline and didn't take one for the team and it may have cost us.

I can't believe more people weren't freaking about this. Power play right there may have sunk the Rangers and put us in the driver's seat.

That's what I said, but apparently not fighting there would be "turtling" which I personally find to be ridiculous, but whatever.

I definitely agree with you on this front Flyhigh. It's called gamesmanship if you're a Pen, Cap or RedWing and it's perfectly acceptable for their fan bases. Not to mention that we would beat the collective **** out of those fan bases anyway. Sometimes you've just gotta swallow your pride. It applies in both life and hockey.

I just don't see how a refusal to fight after a clean hit is "turtling."

I mean, if it's a dirty hit or something, fine. But Hartnell just jacked up Anisimov cleanly, you don't have to fight.

You don't even have to turtle. Stick out your face and let him take a shot at it. Carcillo didn't fight Orr, but he didn't turtle either. He had his chin tucked and was bracing to get hit without retaliating. If Carcillo can do it, so can Hartnell. I honestly don't know why Scotty fights anyways, he looks like he's drunk fighting on skates.
