Glen Healy said J.S. Giguere will play in Germany, The Globe and Mail supports that: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...rts/TopStories

Now, why does Hamburg need another goalie, if their problem is to score goals?

It's not confirmed yet, but these sources don't tend to make up rumours.

Like aj said, they are stars over here, and why not...Cairns is a top fighter, Nichol is an Alternate Captian for the Hawks, Boynton was an NHL All Star, David Oliver was a (Dallas) Star...

I don't care if they are fourth-liners or first-liners in the NHL. To someone like me who grew up playing hockey in Canada, these guys are living the dream.

Aaron Asham recently sign with EHC Visp in the Nationalliga B league.

eurohockeynet doesn't have him listed as having played a game yet.I'd like to know if he has to wait for a transfer window before being allowed to play.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that moving from Canada to England would give me the chance to meet guys like Scott Nichol, Eric Cairns, and Wade Belak.

I read an article that Cairns is doing well in England.

Well he did sign in Hamburg now.
I think this is more a publicity move than trying to improve on the weaknesses.

JS Giguere was offered to the Coventry Blaze as was Bill Guerin earlier in the season, however they would not have been able to afford them...

Jamie Mclennan is rumoured to be on his way to Guildford Flames, or another forward, Modano possibly (David Oliver is a team mate, and Fred Perlini -former Maple Leaf; is a junior coach with Guildford is supposedly a life-long friend of Modano's)...

ESPN is reporting that Kölzig has signed with the Eisbären. Haven't seen anything about that over here yet!!!

Well, I think it's too little too late! If Giguere can provide several shutouts and hold to opponent to a goal or two a game, then fine. However, offense is and has been Hamburg's BIG problem. They've been riding on Johnson and Reid for far too long. Purdie and House have been terrible in comparison to what they usually bring. This team desperately needed a Guerin/Gionta/Langenbrunner/Cole type, and they've needed him since day 1. Considering they've done nothing to replace Dowd - who was a disappointment - I think Hamburg's biggest problem is upstairs. The management has NOT gotten the job done. I just can't believe this team continues to go to war with guys like Young, Antons, Martinovic and Oravec playing on the 2nd and 3rd lines. Just incredible that they haven't dropped much further in the standings!

I've seen some reports about the Kölzig-signing over here. I think it were the Eisbären-page and hockeyweb.de and maybe even sport1, although I'm not quite sure on that one.

It's quite funny that the rumors were around for many weeks and in the end it did happen.

Now, I'm not sure why I forgot to post this yesterday

He coached me when I was younger, great guy and was a good player to watch when he was a Flame. If Modano became a Flame I would be at every home game Didnt know he knew Modano that well, he never mentioned Modano but Im sure that would be true. His son is going to be a good player. Watch out for Brett Perlini in years to come.

Unless he has already been signed but not yet announced, then this won't happen (deadline gone). I am not sure about him being friends with him, but that is what i heard....
Yeh I was hoping Brett would continue with the Flames junior organisation and work up to the BNL, but he obviously is an ambitious lad, and with his dad having played in the NHL, and his scoring record in the junior ranks over here, i supopse it was unlikely he would stick around....

He is playing for the Soo Greyhounds in the NOBHL...
he finished second top scorer with: 34GP 28G 35A =63P

Good to hear he is doing well. I remember when he was 11 he was able to skate cricles round players who were 15, had great natural ability. Be interesting to see if he makes the show in the future. I will loook out for his name. Fred played junior for the greyhounds, Im guessing they are the same organization, obviously one being junior, the other being midget/bantam or what ever his age group is called.

The Florida Sun Sentinal Has confirmed McLennan will play for the Guildford Flames of the British National League for the remainder of the season...

Shame, we don't really need a new keeper, Miroslav Bielik backstopped Flames to a 0-0 OT tie against the EIHLs Sheffield Steelers last night with 46 saves!! But another NHL player, can't complain, should pull the crowds in...
