Happy to see Sergei back. But, O'Byrne out? Bergeron on defense?

Here's a question: didn't Markov play right D against the Capitals this season to shadow Ovy?

Another comment: do we really want MAB on D in this series? Any giveaways will kill us. I know he's been playing better on defense but the Caps can seriously murder us.

Actually, MAB has played well vs Toronto, as he played all minutes as a defenceman

We really could use O'Byrne's size on D, aside from the Carolina game he was playing solid hockey.

Aside from that the lineup looks good.

He did well vs Toronto, as he didnt have to switch back and forth between offensive line and blue line

ok one game. wow!!!!! i have nothing against MAB, he had a horrible season on D despite having a decent last week and a good game againt TO. But OB size would be useful against the caps.

I'm not a MAB fan but I think he earn his spot on D with the last games of the season, He played great against Toronto and score a important 5 on 5 goal versus Carolina

If he start to suck O'Byrnes will be back in the lineup for game 2

Well, even if it would be O'Byrne, Hamrlik, Spacek, Gill, Gorges or Niniima playing next to Markov, we know which side Ovechkin will attack!

It's only Monday, so hopefully things may change. I'm dreading MAB's D over O'Bryne vs Wash explosive offense.

bottom line

we're a better team with Bergeron on D than when he's on the 4th line

i think we're going to go with 7 D-man /11 forward in the playoff

I actually really like MAB on with Markov. MAB has been great for us down the stretch and deserves to be in. OB has been brutal and is still green behind the ears so it's not like MAB is a downgrade to him right now.

Remeber, MAB went to the cup finals with the Oil in 2007(?) and has a lot of experience. Add to that the fact we're going to need all the offensive against the Caps and having him set up by Markov will only stretch out an already porous Washington defense.

I also like bringing S. Kosty back in as he has developed really good chemistry with Moore and Moen and has a scoring touch (someitmes).

Good moves by Martin, to improve our offensive production.

Do you really think JM will cut Pyatt from the lineup?

I don't ming these lines. Too bad we can't switch White in for Darche. With O'Byrne out, we're especially soff.

We need someone to defend Markov when there's a brawl...

We should've signed Souray!

Actually, its more than 1 game.

Look at the games where Bergeron sucked: JM played him in offensive lines and PP only, but when MAB plays as a full fledged D-man, he is much more comfortable

That pairing is going to be key to any success the Habs have. Hopefully they play better than they did coming down the stretch.

it will be hard for 13-14-46 to score against Ovi line if Hammer and Spacek are on the the ice with them.

Having Bergeron in the lineup is a must, considering that Montreal has had offensive success against the Caps this season. All JM has to do is COACH and prevent any Ovi-MAB match up.

Besides, it's only game one. A lot can happen.

We need all the offense we can get against the Caps. Great to see SK74 back and i like Bergeron on D. Doesnt mean that Obyrne wont play in this series though, its only for game one and Martin will probably go from there. Martin clearly understands the importance of skill and offense from the back end, something we just do not have aside from Markov. Lets see if sacrifying some size for some offense is the way to go to at least compete with the Caps. One this is for sure, Bergeron's big shot from the point has to be a factor for us to have a chance.
