I really don't think Washington will cruise that easily against the Habs. That is assuming the Habs play playoff hockey. And the Nucks won't sweep the Kings.
There's usually an upset or two in the first round. The Philly and Detroit series have the most potential IMHO. Philly has a history of getting to Brodeur. Detroit's record is more a result of injuries than a reflection of their teams capabilities. Washington may be loaded for bear this year. I doubt the Habs could handle them if they are. Maybe nobody can. Except Vancouver if they get goaltending.

If you're implying that Detroit winning their first round series would be an upset, I'd have to disagree. I thought it was pretty much agreed that they're one of the most dangerous teams right now.
San Jose should be good to go. They enter the playoffs 8-1-1 while the Avs enter 3-5-2 and just making the playoffs. Not to mention they are nursing some injuries right now. Season Series is 2-1-1 for Sharks I believe. Add to the fact that playing a young team and not a veteran team has to help San Jose's confidence.

But we are both fools for even thinking that... don't you know they have Ryan Kesler?! Kesler will win the series single handidly for them with his great vision, scoring ability, and two-way defensive game! I mean, the Canucks fans are absolutely right with their Kesler > Iginla arguments on the polls page, we are all fools to not see it! Canucks in 3 games because the Kings will be too scared of ryan Kesler to show up for game 4.

Jonathan Quick has been awful the past couple weeks. He hasn't won a game since March 22nd and only won four games since the Olympics.
WSH in 4 - Habs have no chance.
NJD in 5 - With Boucher as your starter, you aren't going too far
BOS upset in 6/7 - Miller has averaged about 31 shots against a game for 69 games, he ca only take the team so far; Buffalo doesn't do much to help him out.
PIT in 4 - No chance for Sens.
SJS in 7 - Avs give them a scare.
CHI in 5 - Nashville won't be too much of a problem.
VAN in 5/6 - Top players on the Kings have no experience whatsoever.
DET in 7 - Yotes will give it all they got, but in the end the Red Wings are the Red Wings.
San Jose is 8-1-1 going into the playoffs, and Colorado has faded the past 6 weeks or so. I think San Jose will be ok this year, winning 2 rounds.
I know it's the regular season but 1 of those 2 loses for San Jose was to Colorado but I still dont think Colorado can win, and the Habs come into this series with Washington on a 8 games playoff losing streak, and personally I see that streak continuing into a 12 game losing streak
First round upsets augers well for a better Kaberle trade return. We need a team that needs to win now fail miserably and feels the need for Kabs. So the more upsets the better!!!
I'm feeling pretty confident that Nashville will surprise quite a few of you... perhaps not upset the Hawks, but take the series to seven.
Wouldn't count out L.A. either, if Quick can put up a semblance of goaltending, they could do some damage.
Not sure why Cox's picks needed a thread though, if he didn't pick Philly it would have been just all the favourites and I could just look at the playoff seeds.
