This bring me to the Kessel deal, as much as I think he is a good player, I feel that Toronto may have overpaid by one too many 1st round draft picks and he could of probably been picked up for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round draft pick this season as opposed to another 1st round draft pick next season.

With the likes of Kessel, Kadri, Bozak, Stalberg, Hanson, Phaneuf, Komisarek, Schenn, Gustavsson and others, your team is going to be GOOD and CONTENDING in no time!

Players like Kaberle, Beauchemin, Giguere and others can all land you mid to late first round picks so I think Burke is going to pull something off in L.A. come June!

Good luck and all the best next season...
Thanks for that.

P.S. I'd trade Kaberle for a lifetime supply of Smoked Meat Pete sandwiches.

Just Asking The Question.....
It's a stupid question. You're just trying to incite more flame wars.

Doesn't mean you can't still keep a first every year.

Picks = Potential
Players = Talent

there is a fine line between which point they meet. would you trade a 1st Overall Pick for Colton Orr just because Orr is proven? of course not because the Ceiling of a 1st overall pick is so high that the value is far beyond what even a good player is worth.

Just Asking The Question.....
I'll answer your question!...So Bozak was passed over 4 times by all GM's....that's 120 GM's because they could not see his value the first 4 times around..the 5th time around it seems that at least 20-28 Gm's woke up and wanted to sign him ( free wallet )....give me the free wallets who are mature and can actually play over unsure draft picks who may or may not ever play in the NHL....No draft pick no matter who he is is ever ever a sure thing to live up to his potential or even play in the NHL....get over the Kessel trade....I'm with Burke and I'd make that trade again and again!

I believe Burke when he says the staff Hudled and they spoke about Leafs giving up a top 5 pick and these are Amateur and Pro scouts who work thousands and thousand of hours evaluating players unlike you who is an armchair GM! They made a desicion because they don't believe that Hall/Seguin will be as good as Kessel! I am pretty sure they did not flip a coin and say (HEADS DEAL...TAILS NO DEAL) they evaulated all situations and in my opinion (armchair GM) they made the right one....So please dont push your personal opinions on all of us...some of us love the trade!

so far...Kessel 30 goals for the Leafs...Bostons pick 0...who ever the pick is is already 30 goals and 50 + points behind Kessel! during a shortened season

I love these games...Orr in my opinion is NOT a good example....but if last year any of the top five teams were Offered Dion Phaneuf for thier first pick do you think any one of them would have declined the trade????....the only one who would have declined would be on CRACK!

BTW...most teams would have to have added a 1st +++ for DP!

He's got size now and getting bigger and stronger...had any team been able to predict 4-5 years later he would have been drafted!

I can't remember his name right now but the kid from St. Thomas who grew 6 inches in 1 year...it's a french name I think...after growing 6 inches he was drafted in the first round...size still means everything!
