2009-2010 Prediction

Step right up, and make your 2009-2010 Thrashers season predictions. Want to talk Kovy's contract, will he or won't he sign; will he be traded? Make it here. How many points will the team have? Will they make the playoffs? How many points a specific player will get. Or make a general prediction about points. Make them here. How many wins will our embattled goalies get? Make it here. Be the envy of your friends at the end of the season by being able to throw your pretty close predictions in their faces....or simply hang your head in shame as you were about as close as the National Enquirer.

Make all of your predictions here, I will close this thread and sticky it before the game on Saturday night so ya got 2 days to make them.

My predictions:

Players over 60 pts: 4
Players over 50 pts (including the 60ers): 6
Players over 40 pts (including the 50 & 60ers): 8

Somebody will set the franchise record for most short handed goals in a season.

We will finish we 2 goalies with a save percentage above .900

The team will have more than 80 pts on the season.

My predictions:

I agree with the player points...

Players over 60 pts: 4 (Kovy, Antro, Little, Kozlov)
Players over 50 pts (including the 60ers): 6 (Max, Pevs)

SE Division:

1. Washington (Too good and going to be even better)
2. Caines (I never think they'll do well, but my former Whalers keep surprising me)
3. Thrashers (91 pts.)
4. TB (Stamkos will be awesome to watch)
5. Panthers

We compete for a playoff spot till the end...7th in the East and attendance will top 16,500

Kovy tops 100

Evander Kane will have 1 goal and 3 assists through his first 9 games. He'll score his first in Ottawa at 16:34 of the first period. Colby Armstrong is going to take a poor angle shot that Pascal Leclaire, making his first start of the year, will try to direct into the corner but a crashing Kane will stuff the rebound home. This will be the opening goal of the game, a game in which the Thrashers will go on to win 3-2. Kane will go on to impress enough in his trial to remain in the NHL this season.

Peverley's play will force John the Big Idiot Anderson to place him on the 2nd line with max where he will finish with at least 35-35- 70

The goal scoring continues, but the defense takes time to gel, the goaltending is poor, and the PK is worst in the league. What begins as a string of 8-6 wins slowly turns into a string of 8-6 losses. The momentum of the end of last season wears off, the goal scoring drops, morale decays, and the Thrashers end up as a lottery team yet again.

Kovalchuk walks after the season signing, surprisingly, with Nashville: a team that makes the post season nearly every season but was lacking the elite sniper to put them over the top. In his first full season with the Preds, Kovy helps the team to a division championship and an appearance in the WCF.

Ah, writing fiction...

Anywhere from 6-11 in the East. I think Carolina, Florida, and Atlanta are all in the playoff hunt down to the wire, and it is possible that the SE gets 3 teams in.

It comes down to goaltending, PK, and team discipline. The Thrashers will score their goals, and kill it on the PP. Can we find a dependable D PK tandem over the first month of the season? Our F's are decent PKers, aggressive as heck.

If Lehtonen comes back and is spectacular, 6th in the East. If he is mediocre, borderline playoff team. If he is out for another long stretch of time, we falter down the stretch.

I do not have much faith in Pavelec or Hedberg carrying this team for any stretch of time.

Ondrej Pavelec will prove to be a very mediocre goalie. Not horrible, but not great...just good.

Lehtonen will catch hell for missing the first 10 games of the year, but will then come back and play better than Pavelec or Moose. Moose will be put on waivers and Lehtonen and Pavelec will be our tandem.

I predict that Christoph Schubert will become the second best German born player in Thrashers history.

Somebody will set the franchise record for most short handed goals in a season.

We will finish we 2 goalies with a save percentage above .900

The team will have more than 80 pts on the season.
Players over 60 pts: Antro, Max...............Miss
Players over 50 pts: Antro, Max, Kovy, Pevs, Toby............Miss
Players over 40 pts: Antro, Max, Kovy, Pevs, Toby............Miss

Franchise record short handed......................Miss

2 goalies with a save percentage above .900...............nailed
more than 80 pts on the season....................nailed

Conclusion: really poor predicting.............oh and Anderson didn't turn the team into an offensive juggernaut.
