I would say that 95% of the casual fans don't even know who DW is. They don't care. Bobo the monkey boy could be GM and if they start winning, the place will fill up. Period.

The casual fans aren't staying away because of Don and his mock turtlenecks. They staying away because of the atrocious product Don keeps putting on the ice. He's the 8th highest tenured GM in the league with a 10 year winning percentage of .375.

Please, .375.

Nice little tidbit here: Golly gee whiz! The Thrashers scored the 3rd highest points in team history with 81 pts. so far!

FACT: We stand to draft 5, 6, 7, or 8 with that wonderful record number of points.

FIRE WADDELL! I hope the same fans that booed Kovy have the voices in tune tomorrow all during the third period.

Just remember that Waddell will be out there with the families of two fallen Atlanta police officers who the MVP award is named after.

It is a tough spot to boo him.

That award was given last week. That was the "3 star award." No one booed him that night either.

Nope, he needs to have the same treatment as all the players that he let slide through his fingers, and then spun with the "all about money, certainly not about this franchises' direction".

Predictions

Next year Heatley will have more points than any Thrasher.

Next year Kovalchuk will have more goals than any Thrasher.

Next year Lehtonen will have a better SV% and GAA than any Thrasher.

Three consecutive first or second picks pissed away.

I'll go one better:

Lehtonen is going to get some real coaching for the first time this summer and next year and be in the running for the Vezina.

and you forgot that we will still have Dumb Donald out there telling us how much we've improved and how great our young players are.

FACT: with NYR's win and Minny's win tonight, our 3rd best season will earn us the 6th to 8th pick at worst. Neiderreiter is a possibility.

He can join the "potential to piss poor" club with Little, Pavelec, and Bogosian. Or, he might pan out and join the "get me the F outta here" club with Heatley, Hossa, Savard, Kovalchuk, Kubina and Armstrong.

Guaranteed the 6th or 8th pick? That's ****ing amazing! I cannot believe we are going to get Niederreiter!!!!!

I honestly thought we would have like 11 or 12.

I'll take that bet. Lehtonen is going to be a bust in Dallas, too. You can't coach desire.

Next year..

Bergfors is young and will be better.

Evander Kane is young and will be better.

Bogosian is young and will be better.

Next year will be the best year since ?

I like this young team. Thrashers will be fine. Slow down guys.

The problem can't always be the coach. The two constants in the 12 years are Waddell and losing.

In the USA Today article Waddell calls out Hainsey and Kubina for not stepping up on the leadership side.....that does not exactly strike me as the best way to move into wooing Kubina into re-signing with us.

I wish I had the job security that Waddell has.

just reek of someone trying to put a positive spin on their ****-up in order to save their own skin. If finishing "above .500" really is an accomplishment he can be proud of, then his standards are even more pathetically low than I imagined.

Interesting comments. I didn't read it correctly the first time I posted the link.

I lot of people on the official website boards were thinking Hainsey could be the next captain with Kubina a very good choice due to his playoff and stanley cup experience. Bogosian is clearly isn't ready for the responsibility and Armstrong is likely to depart via free agency.

Antropov is probably the favourite now for captaincy next season.

Another thing that struck me now is why is he making these comments, wouldn't be more appropriate for JA to make?

Is he that controlling that he has to oversee JA and the locker room every day. In that case, I can't see why he still has a job given this teams failures over the years.

Just because we got a point from them, does not mean an Overtime Loss is still not a loss.

This team did not finish over .500 this season.

I'm sure he was referring to points percentage. Either way, it's pathetic.

I just watched the Waddell part 1 & part 2 video on the official website.

In the video he said that Hainsey and Kubina did step up and become leaders when Kovalchuk was traded. The USA today article must of been a bad translation.

English can be tricky for native speakers.
