"Newspaper report says Tampa Bay Lightning wanted to trade Konopka for Boogaard"

per st.pete times:

Quote:
Interesting note in the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Sunday that said the Tampa Bay Lightning and Wild almost did a trade-deadline deal that would have sent Lightning center Zenon Konopka and a third- and fourth-round draft pick to the Wild for enforcer Derek Boogaard.

Hahaha.

That deal would have ripped apart the locker room and done damage to our draft. Good riddance Lawton.

I agree, not only would that be stupid long term wise (since we are rebuilding more or less) to throw away those picks. but Konopka is an important character guy to this team.

byebye Lawton

Odd that Lawton would offer up a draft pick for a guy he could just sign in July?

I have a hard time believing this. 2 things Lawton said he didn't want to do at the trade deadline is trade away the future (picks or prospects) and get rental players in return. So why would he trade a 3rd and 4th round pick and swap a ufa who wants to be here next year for a ufa we probably will sign somewhere else

The pick would have to go our way for us to even think about it. Dont see how Lawton can even consider this. Konopka>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Boogaard.
