Whats the word with Reyes and Beltran? Will they play at all this year, or will it be one of those "day-to-day" things that eventually turn into at least half the season?

Beltran - expected to start running in a week or so and could be back by early May

Reyes - eligible to return April 10

Quote:
Reyes fought to head north and passed every physical test the Mets put in front of him, but the team wanted him to get more at-bats to work on his timing and stamina.

The Yankees always start off slow.

Remember the beginning of last year? They were getting blown out seemingly every game.

The season ended well I'd say

any fan of a team with this on their resume should not talk to others about blowing meaningless regular season games....

I already don't care about this season.

Seriously, is it time for football yet?

Also, I have to say....if there was ever a team whose entire existence could be summed up by one forum emoticon, it's the Mets and the face palm.

Any hope of this team doing anything this year has been completely rip away. Bring up Davis and Martinez...and can Manuel. He makes Randolph look like Whitey Herzog.

I'd support all of those moves. I'd also put Maine and Perez in the pen, bring up Dillon Gee or Tobi Stoner, and stretch out Mejia and let him start. I don't like having Mejia up, period, but if we're gonna go that route, let him start.

Honestly I would fire everyone from Omar down to the peanut vendor. If it was up to me I would completely blow it up top to bottom. Watching the Mets makes me appreciate the Rangers (yeah I know how bad is that?).

All offseason, I kept telling myself (and my old man) to prepare for a long, long season. And yet, as Opening Day drew closer, I was struck with a tinge of hope and optimism--the **** that happens every spring. Well, this season, it didn't take very long for the team to take that hope/optimism, sodomize it and set it on fire.

I'm also really regretting my purchase of MLB.TV. I should have just waited till mid-season, and watched "free" streams in the interim (if the Mets weren't sucking on any given night).

Just a stupid, desperate move putting him in NY, and yet, they send Davis down. Everyone needs to go.

I can honestly say that the little hope I had has been crushed already too. To say this organization needs an overhaul is the understatement of the century. If I had the chance to wipe out the entire 25 man roster, front office, and coaching staff I would. That's how much I believe this team needs a fresh start.

And to this day I still don't understand why Manuel was given an extension. He did alright in the interim but I felt that the whole coaching staff from 2007 should have been wiped out not necessarily because they were bad but because this team needed a fresh start. Yet here we are in 2010 dealing with the same ******** that's plagued this team for years.

Manuel should have been gone and an entire new coaching staff brought in.
The locker is still a mess.
Leadership and character issues top to bottom.
And no dependable pitching.
If hes not 500 by the end of the month he has to be gone.

Cliff Lee
Javier Vazquez
Brandon Webb
Chris Young
Jorge De La Rosa

Possibly Jeff Francis and Aaron Harang too.

Some of the pitchers Mets need to chase this upcoming offseason.
