It's mind-boggling that Minaya didn't address the starting rotation in the offseason.

Lackey should have been priority no. 1, more of a priority than Bay in my opinion. And even pitchers like Pineiro, Garland, and Wolf would have been an improvement over some of the starters. John Maine has looked atrocious in both of his starts.

Poor Mets fans. Hopefully the Wilpons are a little more proactive in making front office changes than James Dolan....

I could not have been happier with Pettitte's performance today. The Matsui thing was just spine tingling. And boy am I happy to have Nick Johnson back.

You know what I hate? The EARNED run stat.

I don't care if the runs you give up are earned or not. Last time I checked, if you walk a guy and he scores the winning run, you still lose the game. This is like an earned goal stat, if you let in a softie it's not an earned goal!

ERA should just be RA. In fact, if you walk guys who eventually score a run, that makes you a worse pitcher. That means you're giving up FREE runs.

I would just like to point out that the fan confidence rating on MetsBlog.com is currently 3%. Yeah, 3-****ing-percent. And you gotta figure that some of those "confident" are just the guys that like to cast a vote for the unpopular choice, just for kicks.

The. Mets. SUCK.

Even during the collapses of 07 and 08 it was never that low, it hit 30 percent at the lowest. 3 percent is just too funny lol. But yeah the Mets do suck. I honestly gave up hope after the series with the Marlins ended. People say there's 100 something games left but what have the Mets shown to you to think they're gonna do anything in those games especially with that pitching staff?

Walks that end up scoring do count in ERA. So do hit batsmen. Only batters reaching on errors don't count.

I honestly dislike Matt Cerrone, and disagree with most of the crap he posts. But he was spot on when he said that who cares how many games are left, because this is just a continuation of the past couple years.

i know were very early into the season. but this might be the best yankee team ive seen since 1998. seriously, even with our 2-3-4 hitters being absolute no-shows so far this season, we have been utterly dominating.

Just wait until we add Cliff Lee at the trade deadline

We're gonna get a ton of RHP's out of the game before the 6th inning this year.

barring several catastrophic injuries, I dont see the Yanks going after a pitcher like Lee, we just have too much starting pitching depth...i could see them acquiring Crawford though.

I was joking about trading for him at the deadline.

I will bet we'll sign him in the off season though. Andy will probably hang them up and CC has an opt out clause after next season IIRC. Also we've tried to trade for him twice in the last year.

walks count against a pitchers ERA....

and your comparison his horrible. if a goalie lets in a softie, it's the goalie's fault.... if the second baseman boots a grounder, i fail to see how that's the pitchers fault...

oh, it's only runs because of errors that don't count.. nevermind.

For some odd reason I thought that walkers didn't count as earned runs.

I would like Crawford for the right price. Five years 72 million is good.
I see him more as a replacement to Damon than Granderson.

Potential sick lineup:

ss jeter
lf crawford
1b teixeira
3b rodriguez
2b cano
dh/c posada
cf granderson
rf swisher
dh/c montero

Are Mets fans about to slit their wrists yet?

I can't believe what's going on in this game. I don't think it's ever going to end!

What kind of closer blows a save after 18 scoreless innings?

No wonder the mets suck so bad. They can't hit VS a shortstop pitching (wtf?) and their closer blows a save. The only reason the mets won is because the cards ran out of pitchers apparently and had to have a backup outfielder pitch LOL

I dont know. Crawford kind of seems like a signing the 2002-08 Yankees would have made. Id rather spend the money on pitching.

I know that a few guys are getting up there in age but Granderson, Swisher, Cano, and Tex are all in their prime. Factor in Montero who looks like he has a very good chance to be a beast at the plate and we'll score plenty of runs, and I doubt Jeter and A-rod are going to decline heavily any time soon.

If Gardner keeps doing what hes doing, hes fine as a 9 hole hitter. He also brings excellent D in left field.

Seattle should contend this season so Lee stays. Yup, I see them going after Crawford.

Even though I'm a die hard Yankees fan I feel sorry for Rays and the fact that they wont be able to keep Crawford and Pena.

Jeez, that was embarrassing. Minaya needs to be canned. He's got quality pieces, and once again he's surrounded them with dreck.

I heard that Pena will give the Rays a discount. How big a discount? Remains to be seen.

Sabathia who is good friends with Crawford, is already recruiting him.

I can live without him. Whether they sign Crawford or not will likely come down to how Gardner plays this year.

If he can hit .270-280, .350obp and steal 30-40 bases with solid LF defense. Then I don't see the need to spend 70+ million on Crawford.
Not when Gardner can be a poor mans Crawford.

Also you don't want to keep locking position players into contracts. If you're the Yankees it's best to keep some of them open.
