Jakub Stepanek

Hi, this is probably a question for other czech mates here on HFboards. If you are following czech playoffs, you know Jakub Stepanek. Everybody here knows he's a great goalie and I think he is able to play NHL or KHL easily. Was he drafted sometime in the past? I think some scouts should really take a look at this guy or something.

Jakub Stepanek was never drafted (http://www.hc-vitkovice.cz/soupisky....ym=1&sezona=31) I agree that he's a good goalie, but I'm not sure he's NHL ready. There was some interest from scouts for him at the end of IHWC 2009, but he decided to stay in Vikovice. IMO Marek Schwarz is a better goaltender, he made some phenomenal stops against Finland and Russia this year in the EHT. At any rate, it'll be interesting to see how he'll do in tomorrow's Extraliga final vs Dominik Hasek, in an important battle of generations. I think Pardubice are favourites for the title.

Stepanek had very hard time today I hope Vitkovice will do better next time. But speaking about him, I agree he's probably not NHL ready, but he should definitely try something better than czech Extraliga after this season.

Yes, it might be an idea to try the KHL perhaps, or even the AHL (so the scouts can keep a closer eye on him) But he's got a reasonably stable position as No.1 in Vikovice, so why not keep it until he has a really good season (like for example Cervenka?) I also hope Sedlacek will gain some more interest, because despite underperforming at the WJC (the czech defence didn't help) I still reckon he's a good goaltender.

If it´s true, it will be interesting to see who does better in the KHL in 10/11- Hašek or Štepánek?

Personally I don't believe Hašek can do it, play the whole season abreast with the others without getting hurt or something. But I would be happy if he can surprise me. Worse thing I read somewhere SKA is also going after Georgy Gelashvili, which would be worse situation for Štěpánek.

Well, as for Hašek, many peopel doubted him already before last season in CZE, but he never cease to amaze people.

If the Štěpánek transfer is confirmed, it seems weird that SKA would be after another goalie as they already have a veteran like Maksim Sokolov is, btw he could be a good tutour for Štěpánek.

Yea it sucks like hell Nabokov went to SKA. He just has to deal with it. Maybe some loan would be good solution.
