Yea, it's hard for us to speculate anything other than what Russo says. But, I think all of us saw this coming. I only saw a few of the Aeros games this year, and, although it wasn't nearly as defensive as I thought it would, I am sure CF wants someone who is identical to Richards so the transition from AHL to NHL is less difficult.
On another note, does anyone think TT will be back after the draft? I was surprised that CF kept TT but also surprised he kept Constantine. Maybe CF thought it best to keep some people around so there was some structure this past season...
I'm not sure, I'm pretty sure he did revamp his whole scouting staff except for TT I think. I'm excited to see what he can do with a full year of being the GM with his people there. I hope TT is gone soon because he has been partly at fault for our prospect pool, but DR was good at pulling guys up way too early, we can't make these same mistakes.
No offense to Constantin, but this is a good move. KC did a nice job preparing player to play in Lemaire's system, but not so much for Richards' system. It's time to start developing us some speedy, aggressive forecheckers. I'm looking at you Colton Gillies.
I think everyone has too much focus on "system". Most coaches agree that teams only have subtle differences in their style of play.
At the AHL level you need a skipper that can push the guys and teach them to be consistently performing professionals. (ie. help them learn what strengths and weaknessness they possess the the pro level).
"System" should take a back seat to those objectives.
