Washington at Montreal: ECQF Game 3

I am intentionally starting this very crappy GDT as the one we had before game one worked out pretty well and at this time of the year, superstition reigns supreme.

Let's keep playing like we have in the 1st 2 games and with some better goaltending we could take this game!

GO HABS GO!!

So who starts in nets? Goaltending change seemed to help the Caps...is it time for Price to work his magic?

I'm scared that if Price offers a bad performance, our stupid crowd will boo him.. Thanks to the media for constantly bashing Price.

I don't think there is any other way to go then with Halak. I'm a huge fan of both price and Halak but for the moment, Jaroslav is our starter. One bad performance should not take that away especially since he was stellar in game one.

Edit:
The key to tonight's game is to play a very good defensive game like we did in the two last games (excluding period 1 of game 1 and period 3 of game 2). Our team excelled when...

a) Our forwards would come back quickly to help the defensive zone coverage
b) Our defencemen would cutoff passes/shots and cause turnovers

The playoffs are about playing smart hockey and I believe that with intelligent players like Gomez, Gionta, Gill, Spacek, Hamrlik, Plekanek, Moore, etc. we can win this game and this series.

I had no idea there was a preset order to GDT. I guess the mods can merge this with Rahmans once he puts it up. But 11:00 am on game day, I think we NEED a GDT to get started for the first home game and what promises to be a rocking game!

Agreed. I dont get the hurry to change our goalie. Jaro has proven this year he is our number one. You don't replace your number one after ONE weak game.

I have a feeling Halak will bounce back and this will be similar to game 1.

He's been great all year and is still proving himself, I don't see why he stops now. If so, plan B I guess.

A mod can change it to Pre Game Day talk like we had for game 1 when the GDT was late.

Agreed.
I would give him a medium sized leash though (like McTavish described in the intermission of game 2) If he looks shaky and lets in a couple of goals I don't think Martin should hesitate to put in Price.

I want to see lots of traffic in front of Varlamov tonight.

Lots of "incidental" contact with him.

Absolutley! If they can run our goalie and not get called on it, it's only fair that we can do the same. Considering we have the advantage in net, it's our DUTY to run their goalie too.

As for who should start, you have to go with Halak tonight. He's the reason we're here and deserves a shot at coming bouncing back. If he falters tonight, then you have to go back to Price who's been amazing against the Caps all year.

At the end of the day, if the refs can call it evenly and we play the way we have, then we should be happy whether we win or loose as our boys are doing a hell of a job and out classing, out playing and our coaching the best team in the NHL. Keep it up boys and good things will come

I'd like to see that too but you know that we'll take penalties for it. We don't have the special set of rules that let us do whatever we want like the Caps do

-Halak play great
-Somebody (I don't care who) punish Ovechkin with a big hit
-Crashing Caps' net often
-...
-Win

Do the player realize that protecting the lead doesn't work? They blew up leads 90% of the time this season..

like, don't they get it??

A victory tonight could make us forget to dissapointment of satuday.

What we need to do:

- Protect Halak at all cost, hit player that go near him. No one should be allowed near him without punishment.

- Don't let Semin, Ovie or Backstrom get speed in the neutral zone. We have to force them to dump the puck

- We need to avoid the penalty box at all cost.

- Our two bottom line needs to do aggressive dump-and-chase, try to draw a penalty, when you got a chance get a shot to Varlamov, try to interfere with him.

- Special unit need a perfect game

- We need the first goal.

so true bud.

It'd be such an outrage if the league's baby and the rest of his posse got penalized.
