We land Linus Klasen

Source:
http://svt.se/2.19789/1.1970148/nu_a..._for_nashville

24 year old from Sweden
hes listed as 5 8 176 pounds

This guy is very light on his feet and can move around small gaps very well.

I think it will take him at least a year to get used to play over here..
He is used to bigger ice and softer play but only time will tell

Nice little highlight video...appears to have good speed and sick hands...at worst a shootout specialist, but has the ability to be so much more...

This was rumored a few weeks ago when it was found out that we've been in contact with Darzins.

This is a very interesting, low-risk move on our end. Klasen was far and away the best offensive player for Sodertalje this year.

Any chance that Darzins is signed? Or did you mean the Preds were in contact with him years ago?

nice hands, no way he is gonna get that kind of space to work with over here, but I hope he can adjust

Looks to have the skill level and mind necessary to adjust to the smaller ice surface without too much difficulty. It will definitely be an adjustment with the smaller rink and bigger, stronger, faster players within, but I have confidence that Videll will overcome those obstacles relatively quickly to become an effective NHL player.

If you watch his dekes, commonly he is going around players and using his speed to burst to open ice, rather than trying to go through everyone which won't work as well in North America...

He will be in North America next season. Will probably get a look in camp, but I suspect he'll start the season in Milwaukee unless he just comes over and forces his way onto the roster.

Will be interesting to see if he participates in prospect camp this summer...

Good find guys! We've thrown up a blurb at the 303 site about it.

My guess is that is exactly what he will become, if he's able to stay in the NHL. Kinda like Canucks Wellwood. I know this player since I am a Södertälje SK fan.

He does have some slick moves, and nice hands, know hows to deke, good at passing, he's also good at twisting and turning with the puck. He isn't very strong and he's rather small and needs time and space, which I doubt he get much of in the NHL. He is prone to make dangerous plays which sometimes can cause turnovers. He isnt really that fast skater (topspeed that is, he's quick when it comes to twisting and turning) either, something he will have to be in the NHL.

But again, he can pull out some very creative moves every now and then, so he's an entertaining player. Also his constant dekes and change of directions, often result that the defender take a hooking or tripping penalty.

He is just not a defensive player, so the Preds can forget about that.

Don't worry, he will be after Trotz is finished with him.

Poile has hit a few times on the guesses at European players with Erat late in the round and Hornqvist. Size could be an issue, but its obvious the kid has some talent. My guess is Poile told him to come over for a year and test North American hockey and everything can be re-evaluated next year, both how much the Predators want him and how much Klasen wants to say here. Its a low-risk high-reward for both sides.

Fwiw

his listed weight on Södertälje's website converts to 185lbs so at 5'8" thats fairly solid from a numbers standpoint and having Hornqvist here should help with his transition.

Visions of Tenkrat, Philstrom, and Krivokrasov dancing in my head

It's low risk, but will reserve judgement until I actual see the guy play in the NHL.

I think we should sign Jonas Andersson... but will probably have to be a 1-way.

Which means he'll be listed as 5'11" and 200 lbs once he makes the NHL. Not that he'll be any bigger. It's the Paul Kariya effect.
