As usual they are not forthcoming on injuries (moreso during the playoffs). On last night's stat sheet Voynov was listed day-to-day with an upper body injury. No mention of Hickey. Friday night in Portland he told a friend of mine that he got hurt in practice Thursday but it wasn't serious and he would be back soon but he did have a boot on! Scott Pellerin was on the radio Friday morning and said everyone was healthy except Voynov was a little banged up but should be back very soon. I tend to not believe anyone about injuries this time of year.
As far as Zatkoff getting a start I would say NO! Bernier has been fantastic and there is no reason to change at this point. Hopefully they can pull off another win tonight. They didn't play their best last night but still got the win even though it never should have gone to OT. The interference call on Westgarth was bogus. The ref could have called a ton of real interference calls but chose not. I am not looking forward to Pellitier reffing tonight, he screwed us big time the last couple of games he did. He is the type of ref that can take the game away from you. Hopefully we won't give him a chance.

That's not so impressive. When I was his age my GPA was 0.99

I'm sure that 0.99 was also the blood alcohol level of most Canucks fans after last night.

It's sad to see that the Verizon Center almost completely empty when the team is playing so good.

What's the reason for the lack of fans support?

My guess is that the Boston Bruins in the playoffs and the Red Sox playing is going to hurt the attendance at minor league hockey games in the area.

Yeah, it was more of a rallying statement for you guys but it would help me as well too for when I finally do make my rounds down to LA, I can watch them as well. With the team being in Manchester, I don't believe I will ever have an opportunity to see them. Just not in the cards right now or in the near or moderate future.

Have you actually lived in LA or are you a NV native?

We already have an affiliation with Ontario so, although it would be nice to have the narchs also nearby, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Born and raised in Lancaster California Lived there till I was 17, then moved to Reno for college and have been here since. Am now 24... I know of Ontario, but we rarely use our ECHL affiliate, would be better if the AHL expanded westward and give us a reasonably close minor league team. Hopefully one of these days...

Does anyone know when our affiliation with manchester is over or eligible for a renewal?

It really would be so cool, if we had our ahl affiliation in socal.

playoff attendance is always down in the playoffs in the AHL. Add into the fact its a Monday night, its a school night, the Bruins were on. Redsox werent a factor they had their annual Patriots Day game at 11 am.
I expected a crowd around 2k. If you look around the league with the exception of the games in Hershey you are going to see crowds in the 2k-3k range alot.
Portland had 2k for the the Friday night game and probably 3500 for game 2.

AEG owns the team, I'm assuming there agreement is never up for renewal until AEG decides to move the team.

Thanks for shedding some light on the subject. Is the Verizon Center a nice arena? It kind of looks like a dump to me. . . but then again, I've never seen a full tour of the building

I'm hoping with the success that the yotes, kings, sharx and even the dux have had, it may be a matter of time before we move our ahl affiliates closer to our parent club.

If the Monarchs and Stars meet in the finals, I would drive down for some games. That would be cool.

San Diego was still holding out hope of landing an AHL franchise, but nothing seems imminent. The biggest hurdle is that any team this far west is obligated to pay for the visiting teams' travel expenses. That seemed to be the main reason why it hasn't happened yet. Definitely would be awesome if we got the AHL, I definitely would check more games than when the Gulls were in the ECHL.

With no AHL teams within the US being west of Texas, I have difficulty imagining NHL teams moving their affiliates to the west. As Brodeur stated above me, lots of travel expenses and the AHL schedule of three games in three days will make for an unbearable situation for teams in the west.

There were talks of the Avalanche forming an AHL affiliate in Colorado with the Eagles franchise that plays in the CHL. It is possible if teams slowly transitioned into the midwest region and slowly expanded to the westcoast. Having an AHL affiliate based out of Las Vegas would be interesting...
