Bud Holloway is the next Chris Kontos.

Judging from the box score the lines appeared to be:
Moller-Loktionov-Lewis
King-Azevedo-Holloway
Cliche-Elkins-Westgarth
Gauthier-Zeiler-??? (Monarchs skated with 11 forwards and 7D)

Defensive pairs were:
Piskula-Bagnall
Campbell-Muzzin
Martinez-Voynov
Kolomatis

found this ... http://www.facebook.com/MonarchsHockey ... might be useful for updates as it seems like the AHL boards are DEAD as a doornail and the past usual suspects we could count on for Narch's info have moved on ?

Hopefully a long playoff run will bring some of them back.

Great job completing the sweep tonight. Worcester won their game last night and leads Lowell 3 games to 1.
Bud Holloway had the GWG in each game. I honestly cant recall seeing that before.

Great game tonight! First time i've ever been to series clinching game in either nhl or ahl. It trips me out a little every time i make the drive up to Manchester. You walk into the Verizon wireless arena and you see all these people wearing Kings jersey's, and you see Kings stuff being sold in the gift shop and people with Bernier and Moller jerseys. I LOVE it. I feel like i'm right back in LA at the staples center. As you know the Monarchs tore them a new one. The last 5 minutes where a hoot. They boys where damn near cracking up on the bench. Small crowd (minor leagues on a weekday are like that ) but a crowd that was into it none the less. Drew Bagnall is awesome. I hope he makes it! If not LA then somewhere else. and Kevin Westgarth is very much ready for the NHL. Moller was maybe the most stoked over the win. Getting a little animated (in a good way) with the fans after the win. When Bernier walked off after his 1st star all the fans by the tunnel started bowing to him (ie: "were not worthy" Wayne's word style) Which brought a huge smile to Bernier's face. Just a great feel good win!!!

Is Worcester any good? I know they're the Sharks farm team. Just wondering aren't they one of the better teams in the AHL, record wise?

Worcester finished first in the Atlantic division. They're pretty good, with a couple of guys who've played in SJ during the course of the season.

Best in the league, with what i believe is a league record, was Hershey (Caps affiliate).

The Monarchs are peaking at the right time, and whoever we play will be seeing a much different team than they saw in the last 2 months of the season.

It is not so much the weekday as it is the playoffs themselves. Surprisingly, the cup tourney draws smaller crowds than the regular season. This is because the Monarchs marketing team doesn't know far enough in advance when the games will be played. So the advance promotions to groups and companies and so on are not possible. The fan base is, I think, about 1/3 real hockey enthusiasts, and they are the ones who turn out in full for the Calder Cup games.

There is one more round (Manchester v. either Worcester or Lowell, probably Worcester), the winner of that round will play Hershey. It wasn't pretty the last time the Monarchs played Hershey in the playoffs, we were swept in 4.

Regarding Bud - no one has ever seen that before, Bud set an AHL record last night!!!!

Just out of curiosity, what percentage of manchester based monarchs fans are also fan of the kings and what percentage are bruins fans?

I'd say most Monarchs fans are Bruins fans. We are not, but we were during the Bobby Orr era years and years ago.

There are 7 players on the Kings roster currently that for the most part, spent at least one season in Manchester, so that's how we became Kings fans. Having Directv & Center Ice is nice, but it's hard staying up until 1am watching the games, but it's well worth it! It's good to see the former Monarchs playing great hockey with the Kings. We are some of the Monarchs/Kings fans who wear our Kings jerseys as often as our Monarchs jerseys.

GO KINGS GO!!!

LETS GO MONARCHS!!!

It's crazy how many times the Monarchs are outshot, yet they still win. Bernier!

Well Monarchs fans, you should probably be hoping that San Jose advances against Colorado because you don't want Couture rejoining Worcester.

Go Bernier. Glad to see him keep rolling like this.

The Kings played the Monarchs in Boston two years in a row. Dozens of Manchester fans wear their Monarchs shirts, go early, stand by the glass and cheer on the former Monarchs players during warmups. Then they go to their seats and root for the Bruins. But... if the Kings win, that's OK too.

When the Monarchs play Providence in Manchester, you won't find more than a handful of Baby Bruins fans. In fact, the crowd is more passionate about beating Providence than any other team.

That's the nature of life in an AHL city.

And as another poster said, we are all Kings fans, too, because so many of the NHL roster are known to us. E.g., I stayed up to watch last night's LAK vs VAN game, and then couldn't get to sleep because I was so upset after the loss.

P.S. I got home from the Bruins OT win in time to see much of the Kings game. I had hockey insomnia.

At least the Bruins won!!
I would agree there a lot of Monarchs fans who are Bruins fans but follow the Kings just to see what our former Monarchs are up to.

Yeah I know I was there for game 4. I didnt think we had a chance to win that series anyway. But that sure was a fun ride that season. Ill never forget O'Sullivans center ice goal against Providence that year in the playoffs.

Regarding Bud - no one has ever seen that before, Bud set an AHL record last night!!!!
I dont think I have ever seen it at any level. ECHL, AHL, or NHL.

Attendance is down in every AHL city in the playoffs. No cooporate sponsors buying playoff tickets. which includes the luxury boxes. 2k-3k is about the norm in Manchester and in other cities. they had a announced crowd of 1125 in Lowell last night.

We always go to Boston to see the Kings play, wear our Kings jersey's and root for the Kings. This year, we were the only 2 Kings fans in the Board Room, but that was OK as the Kings won for the third straight game in Boston

I tossed and turned last night after the Kings game too, they came so close to being up 3-1
