I had a slap shot crack open the toe of my skate once. It broke my big toe and the one next to it and ripped my big toe nail off. I would bet money that Gagne plays with it. It was pretty bearable once the skate was on (I had to untie my new skate down to the toe cap to get my foot in for a few weeks). It did hurt like hell for the rest of that game though.

I wonder how big a difference freezing it makes?

True, but he would most definitely not be on the front line of the penalty kill if he is lucky enough to play, and that, in itself, is a huge loss.

True story: I was on one of the last Eastern Airlines flights. Miami to New York, as I recall. Then, we are told of an engine problem. Then, weather issues mid-flight. We circle many times, not able to land in NYC. Then the pilot tells us "Since we are running low on fuel and can't land in NY, we may have to be diverted to Providence....awaiting word from air traffic control." A guy next to me who was easily 20 years older than Moses screams "All you ****ers, at least I had a good life." Awesome.

My nominee for most predictable sentence of the year. From the Sharks game.

"Adam Foote in the high slot...a backhand..he flubbed it!"

With a 3-1 lead, they might hold him to be cautious, but these kinds of injuries get played through a lot. I wouldn't worry about it.

Just got home from the game, and I agree. Although winning made the game fun... just no flow. That many calls just shouldn't be made. It sucked for both teams.

I know now that they're saying he broke a toe. When I saw this quote, I feared another "compression syndrome" injury like John Kalinski had.

Definitely. After the Betts and Lappy unit, Lavi rotates through Richards, Giroux, Gags, Powe, so we'll be okay, especially if we don't take that many penalties again.

It looked to me like the shot was higher than that but who really knows just yet. It was the right leg for sure.

I wouldn't put some mis-direction past the Flyers either. I think both Carter and Gagne will play and if either or both don't it's only because of the 3-1 lead and being cautious. Neither seem to be serious injuries by hockey standards and adrenaline is a great anesthetic . . . along with anesthetic.

The biggest factor in this series so far has been the Devils inability to effectively break out of the defensive zone. The Flyers forecheck has caused them a lot of trouble, and the Devil defenders continue to have a lot of trouble moving the puck out of their end.

I don't completely understand it, though. When I watch, I think to myself...how were the Devils able to do as well as they did this season when they have this much trouble moving the puck out of their end? Maybe I'm not giving the Flyers forecheck enough credit, but I don't see how it can be that superior to the forechecking of other teams...or how other teams/coaches could fail to implement a very aggressive forecheck when playing the Devils.

And yeah, just aboslutely atrocious officiating tonight. Tonight is really the kind of game that needs to be reviewed...big time. Those refs need to be sat down, or something needs to happen. It was embarassing. Most of the terrible calls went against us, but some were on the Debs...the one on Zajac maybe being the worst of the night. Whether a make-up was due or not, at least call something of some substance. And a make-up wouldn't have been due in the first place if there hadn't been such god awful officiating just previous. I'm not sure if it was mostly just one ref, or if they both equally sucked.

Hopefully Carter and Gagne are both okay, but at least if one of them isn't, we have a very capable forward in Leino waiting in the wings. He deserves to be playing as it is, and it's ashame we haven't been able to fit him into the line-up.

I believe he asks for her to give him Ham on 5...as Mr. Ham was on Line 5.

Gotta say I love seeing Brodeur's "you've GOT to be ****ing KIDDING ME!!!" face. He did it after Carcillo's goal. It's the same look he had when Staal scored on him last year.

edit: in honor of the win:

There was a sharp increase in penalties handed out in game 2, and I have to wonder if this series wouldn't already be over if that weren't the case.

Whats with refs in this series? Canít fully enjoy playoff hockey. They are doing a horrible job, both ways.

I wonder if Gagne will play with a fractured toe. Kasper did it a while ago, in fact many player did it.

B.Boucher has been very good for us so far.

Besides Kovalchuk's empty netter at the end of Game 2, the Devils have not scored an even strength goal since Zubrus scored goal #4 with just over 4 minutes left in the third (also Game 2). That's 6+ periods without an even strength goal -- a very good accomplishment, I'd say.

If we can just stay out of the ******* penalty box -- for this series and any series moving forward -- we're going to be fine. I will say that the refs really need to pull their heads out of their *****. Put your egos away; nobody comes to the game to watch you.
