They have got to get that PK under control immediately.

That, or never, ever take another penalty.

...holy crap, another one. It was not an actual PP, but on a delayed penalty call, just like a PP situation.

This is a bloody disaster.

Seriously, what would the score in this series be without these PP goals by LA?

In 4 games, LA has 9 PPG and 5 even strength goals.

However, if you consider the goal they scored tonight on that delayed penalty to be a PPG, then it's 10 to 4.

Game 1: 2-0 Vancouver (1-0 Vancouver at even strength)
Game 2: 2-1 Vancouver (1-1 at even strength)
Game 3: 3-2 Vancouver
Game 4: 4-2 Vancouver (4-1 because LA scored on the delay)

Frustrating series as the Canucks are significantly better at even strength, yet look like an ECHL team facing the 50s Canadiens on the PK. I figure the PK and Luongo can not possibly continue to be as bad as they are (although Luongo, while not great, has probably been better than the .871 SV% suggests.)

You *******!

This is actually the least upset I've ever been when the Devils lost a series. I didn't post it because I didn't want to totally believe it, but before the series, I called Flyers in 6. After the way Game 1 was played, I changed it to Flyers in 5.

If Lemaire is coach next year (he won't be), I'm officially going to find another bandwagon to climb on next year until he's gone. If the defense isn't fixed, I'm going to watch some games but not really get emotionally invested.

Appropriate that the team's season ended with a sloppy powerplay at the end of a shutout.

Well, Im rather disappointed in NJ winnings- mainly because I had a Parise in one of my pools.

But on the bright side, this upset sets up a Washington-Pittsburgh ECF

They had a losing record in 2010. Something like 18-23 in 2010.

Lemaire didn't keep the lines together more than 2 games in a row - even into the playoffs. Shockingly, the team never found chemistry.

Oh, and the defense sucks. The Devils play a defensive system, which masks the inadequacy of their blueline in the regular season. But in the playoffs, they get exposed.

Brodeur was fine. Not great, not bad. He's definitely not as good as he used to be, but is still an upper level starter in the NHL.

It's an upset on paper. Anyone who watched the Devils critically all season expected it.

Flyers were 9 and 2 against the Devils this year, so its certainly not the huge upset some are portraying it.

Nobody else beat Brodeur more than twice this year.

Fine - I'll make this one official. If the Devils hire Ken Hitchcock in the offseason as their new coach, I'm finding a bandwagon to jump on until on.

To put it in ATD terms - this is why I have such respect for Toe Blake. He proved he could win using any style - and he was willing to use the style that best fit his roster. Scottie Bowman was always defense-first, but he proved he could adjust his system to any era.

Jacques Lemaire (and most coaches honestly) fail at both.

Anyone seen Daniel Alfredsson ???

On the flip side, I love Peter Regin.

Alfredsson's legs are absolutely gone, compared to even a year or two ago. He still gets his points, but he's not the same player. That's a fairly big reason why the Sens aren't going far this year, IMO, despite a lot of other improvements over last year.

But yeah, Regin looks like the top-6 forward that the Sens haven't developed in forever.

I can't believe what a mismatch PHI/NJ turned out to be. I mean, TDMM saw it coming, but he watched the Devs all season.

Boucher vs. Brodeur - that right there should tell you who I thought would win. I hoped Philly would take it, but I didn't think there was a good chance. I didn't take a Flyer in my playoff pool. What I really didn't see coming was a five-game victory.

That was easily the most dominating performance of any team in the playoffs so far. I think Vancouver can finally make a push for the finals in the west this year, but I don't think anyone is going to stop whoever comes out of the East (Pittsburgh or Washington).

Yeah, it definitely was, but as most of us Canucks fans were saying after game 3: "It's just one game, don't overreact." I think we should heed our own advice, all LA needs to do is win the next game at home and we're going to game 7.

That's a pretty interesting opinion you have their about the Caps/Pens.... almost everyone (myself included) thinks that whoever comes out of the East won't even stand a chance against their western opponent.

The Western Conference has a lot more depth than the Eastern Conference does, but I don't think the top teams are terribly far apart in practice (although maybe on paper in some cases). I expect another close stanley cup finals series.

This is a laugh.

From Dave Hodge question thing:

http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/dave_hodge/?id=317311

Quote:
They're trying to become only the fifth regular-season champion in the last 20 years to win the Stanley Cup.
So.. the team that has a 1/30 chance of winning the President's Trophy has a 20% chance to win the cup? I'll take those odds!
