Great game, despite the penalties. I found myself yelling at the TV at weak calls against the Devils. I fully admit to the following:
  • Laperriere signing was bad because Flyers already had grinders/tough guys.
  • Team had no heart or drive to play all-out desperate hockey.
  • Team won't go anywhere in the playoffs, especially with Boucher in nets.
  • Losing Gagné and Carter will be a deathblow.

Boucher was just superb. While I don't think he stood on his head, and had very few tough saves to make, the thing that impressed me the most was how he gobbled up pucks into the pads, especially with White on the doorstep whacking at him. That was the difference-maker for the SO. Oh, and Brière's stick.

Speaking of White, lol at him blocking a shot that looked like it was headed by Boucher and into the net.

Seems like both Laperrière and Asham have taken to wearing shields. Announcers noted that Asham finished the game with one after taking the high stick.

I was right about 1 thing going into game 5. NJ might have come out pretty good, but if the Flyers scored first and then build off that NJ will to compete would go away.

this whole team is just completely different in playoffs under Lavi. one thing that pissed me off last year under Stevens, is that it felt like few people were really stepping up. at least in my head.

It felt like that because it was true. Coach and system are a big part the change. Another big part is personell. Pronger, Betts, Lappy have all added a passion that was missing. It also seems like we have a different Carcillo. He isn't just the 4th line annoying chirper like he was in the last playoffs (yes I know the 4th line wasn't terrible last year and wasn't the reason we lost, but he still has flourished under Lavvy)

Sharks Fan here....

I just wanted to say Congrats on a great series win. I did my best to catch most of the games in this series. The Flyers are one of my favorite East Coast Teams. I love the style of play they bring game in and game out.

Way to go Flyers and good luck in round two........

~Mark

Carcillo has as many non-EN goals as Elias, Parise, and Kovy combined.

Hopefully we won't give them any 9 minute power plays this time either. Although with these refs, you never know.
