Leighton update, April 24, 2010

Goalie Michael Leighton, who has been out of the lineup since he was injured on March 16 in Nashville, practiced with the team Saturday.

He had a good day yesterday. Today he made it through a practice, which obviously is a good sign, but well have to wait and see how he responds from taking part in the practice, see how he is tomorrow," Holmgren said. "Im sure hell get rehab again tomorrow and then if hes able to go on the ice on Monday that will be a more positive sign than the fact that he made it through practice today for me."

Dont think its too unlikely that the caps go off on us and that he may get some action at least to finish out a game. If he does well then we have a "problem". Sound familiar? Oh yea, the Habs this series...

Absolutely. This is Boosh's playoff...unless he comes out and absolutely blows a game, Leighton's only seeing the nets from the bench or in practice.

The Caps will blow us out one game of this series. They are just built that way. Hopefully Lavi isn't reactionary like the Habs and keeps things on an even keel.

I would keep him as a third goalie, don't want him getting into Boucher's head.

Really? I think that if he comes in anywhere near where his abilities were at before he got injured, that I'd MUCH rather have him backing up Boosh. Especially with looking at Washington's ability to just explode offensively.

i feel more secure having a goalie who has played more than 1 game in the NHL as the backup.

nice to see leighton come back. what is also nice to see is boucher's face dominating the goalie stat page on nhl.com for the playoffs
