I have always given Barry the benefit of the doubt through all the ups and downs but this is clearly inexcusable. there is nothing to blame other than pure coaching incompetence for putting out the regular PP unit in the last minute of regualtion.
I am the dumbest hockey guy on these boards but even I could have made that call.
Fire Trotz and Horacek tonight, and give Pederson a one game audition for the head job.
You have to scratch your head on the Predators coaches and players decision making there.
How do you lose that game?
Think of the difference another round of playoff games would make for our money situation for our team next year. Maybe that will make our owners grow some balls.

I'm usually the last to complain on such a level but I'm with you. Completely with you.
agree stranger. that one bonehead move at a minimum probably cost is a lot of tix for monday but if we lose the series due to it it cost us millions. plus the disheartening nature of another first round loss whne it was in our grasp this time is gonna make it hard for even diehards to get excited about next year.
I really think the Nashville markets response to this will be: "We've seen this movie 5 times before.... call us when you've got something new"
I figure since Horachek demands strong fan support, he's probably comping a thousand tix after the final PP fail. The biggest PP fail in Predators history. (Not all his fault, just 1/3rd, as Trotz says it's a group coaching effort.)
List how many you need for Monday and I'll try to get it to him in time for Will Call.
Is this a bad dream? Seriously, this can't actually be happening. We have a PP to end the game, up a goal, almost a guaranteed victory as long as we don't do anything stupid. Hell, we could have just skated around the ice for a couple minutes killing time by playing keep-away. You have got to be ****ing kidding me, that's just flat out inexcusable.
Yet I don't think firing Trotz is the right idea either. I have a feeling that with any other coach we would have ended up close to last place in the West. Trotz is able to get so much out of these players during the regular season, without him we're not even in the post-season to begin with. The players need to step up and take some responsibility. Play with some urgency, show us that you actually want to win the ******* game.
Exhausted or not, he made zero attempt to try to stop Kopecky and he was almost right beside him, with nobody else between him and Rinne. I was not impressed with Suter at all on that third goal. that was a terrible effort, in fact no effort.
Not knocking Suters overall game because I love his game, just sayin he was terrible on that third hawks goal.
Also,
Trotz is good, do not fire him. Just had crappy luck tonight. Im just as upset as everyone, but it is not Trotz's fault. Agreed on Horachek! PP sucks!!
The coach is not at fault for a terrible decision by Erat.
Yes, he is. He clearly didn't have the "keep away" team out there, which means he didn't stress ENOUGH that was THE ONLY THING LEFT TO DO!
Arnott was not the big mistake maker, but as soon as I heard it was him, Ward, etc. instead of Legwand, Wilson (or Sully). I was angry. So don't pretend that wasn't foreseeable.
Sometimes stuff just happens though. We still have a slim chance. Sigh. I feel worst for the players who did play hard and smart. Heck, Erat had a useful game until the duurrrr moment.

You make it sound like the players can't think for themselves. I'm not saying Trotz is 100% guilt-free, but I believe the majority of the blame lies with the players on the ice. They knew what they had to do, they're professional hockey players and they just had to play mistake-free for 20 more seconds. 20 seconds, come on, that shouldn't be too much to ask for from any group of players on the team.
