I loved the Omark slap shot aswell. Every goalie in the world would've expected a move, and he went with the unexpected knowing just that. Good win, decent game at best.

so is Harju playing Center? I thought his main forte was his shot and he was primarily a scoring winger?
What position do you think he is best suited for in the NHL with Tampa?

He is indeed playing the center position. Not sure why, he seems to have more of a winger's mindset.

I dont want Ragnarsson, there has got to be a younger, better and FASTER player avaible.

And Id probably pick Wesslau ahead of Markstrom. Markstrom hasnt impressed in big games so far and he is lost to NHL and who knows when he is avaible for WC again?
Wesslau was solid all season and pick up his game a few nothces in the playoffs, he could be lost to NA as well, but Id take a gamble. Not that anyone of them will play anyway.

I'd love to argue it, but we all know Harju has a 99% chance to end up in the WC. Only one of Omark and Harju would be like inviting just one Sedin to the Olympics at this point. Get into BÅG's mindset already.. Lander is also cut already.

Here is the LG preliminary roster:

25 GK Markström Jacob Brynäs IF SWE 31.01.90 Gävle 194 84 L
35 GK Lindbäck Anders Timrå IK SWE 03.05.88 Gävle 198 85 L

23 F Omark Linus Dynamo, Moscow RUS 05.02.87 Övertorneå 179 78 L
24 F Harju Johan Dynamo, Moscow RUS 15.05.86 Övertorneå 190 95 L
51 F Wallin Rickard Toronto Maple Leafs CAN 09.04.80 Stockholm 191 91 L
71 F Andersson Jonas Dynamo Minsk RUS 24.02.81 Stockholm 188 95 L
80 F Weinhandl Mattias Dynamo, Moscow RUS 01.06.80 Ljungby 182 88 R
91 F Pääjärvi Svensson Magnus Timrå IK SWE 12.04.91 Norrköping 186 91 L
92 F Nylander Michael Jokerit Helsinki FIN 03.10.72 Stockholm 181 87 L

Viklund, Erixon and J.Lindström gone from last roster.

So, Engqvist and Nilson added to the LGHG roster apparently. No cuts announced. 8 D and 14 F atm so we'll see.

According to Tomas Ros(yeah, I know...) the offensive lines for the Czech game tonight are:

Linus Omark–Johan Harju–Fredrik Pettersson

Jonas Andersson–Michael Nylander–Nicklas Bergfors

Magnus Pääjärvi–Rickard Wallin–Jimmie Ericsson

Niklas Persson–Tony Mårtensson–Mattias Weinhandl

No DIF players in lineup tonight.

Markström in goal.

That line looks pretty interesting. If Nylander is in the right mood, that is. Also I think Omark and Pettersson could work well together. Too bad their center sucks.

Not too crazy about this team though. Harju I do not like. He is there because he is Omarks best friend, nothing else. Wallin is too slow. Jimmie Ericsson as a winger? Persson, Mårtensson and Weinhandl = euro stars but ineffective when it counts, and should not be selected because they simply do not have the extra gear needed when we face Canadians.

A shootout loss to the Czechs. A bit disappointing that they didn't put more pressure on Pavelec than they did.

Bergfors, Omark, Pettersson, Pääjärvi, Persson and Andersson were pretty good. This team needs better centers.

I thought the young D was surprisingly good. I hope Gunnarsson, Hedman and OEL makes the team.

And that's why Bäckis would be huge to this team. Harju, Wallin, Nylander and Mårtensson - not very impressive. Nylander was horrible and the usual puck hog, and the rest we know are no high international ones. Wallin is fine for a checking line and defensive play, Mårtensson can only play with Weinhandl and Harju is just not very good.

Any SEL players we can see in WC that are not yet on the team?

Ragnarsson, Ölvestad?

Do we have a crisis at defense?

Read somewhere (Marie Hellmans blog?) that there will not be any more SEL players added.
I guess that could change if we are hit hard by injuries and no NHL:ers becomes avaible.

For the moment team Sweden looks way to weak to be a golden contender at the World Championship. If this roster stands I will be very happy with a top 4 spot.

But its a team with many young upcoming players so I hope some of them will do the same magic like we saw from Sundin in 1991 World Championship and from Forsberg in 1994 Olympics. MPS and Hedman looks good and I hope Bergfors will have a big championship and of course Erik Karlsson and our goalies most step up.
