Again:

Horton>>Cogliano (Horton was almost point/game this year)
Allen~Souray (Allen is a solid shutdown defenseman, Souray is an offensive weapon. It's a wash IMO based on salaries)
2nd rd pick 2010>Riley Nash

No reason for the Panthers to do this.

Has there ever been a proposal on these boards that makes sense?

What about a deal just around Souray and Allen?

If you offer up another roster player like Nilsson or POS, and if the Panthers think Horton is unhappy and wants out, maybe the deal goes through.

I can't see the Panthers giving up Horton, who's signed to such a good contract, for anything less than an overpayment. Unless he's unhappy in Florida and the management knows it, I'm not even sure Florida comes back with a counter offer.

Florida's GM flips you the bird and then knees you in the groin if you offer up this proposal to his face or screams at you and then hangs up if it's over the phone. God help you if you're on a hunting trip with him at the time.

Florida's GM counters with Hemsky and Smid for Olesz, Allen, and a 3rd.

I think, that if you really wanted to have Horton, you would have to start with

Cogliano + Brule + Nash + NAS 2nd + Chorney

Maybe FLA does it as they seem to have some differences with Horton and this might be the best return they can get for him.

Besides they are facing a longer rebuild without any untouchables and this would give them a big amount of young talented players to work with. Especially as they don't seem to have a deep roster and farm.

If they wanted we could additionally also take on Ballards long contract (who failed in beeing the #1 defender they expected him to be) for Souray's shorter contract.

Nevertheless I don't really think that it might work.

Even if it maybe is overpayment, I would still do it, as a big young top six forward looks ways more appealing to me, than

- 2 smallish forwards with no reasonable role on that team

- one of defensive prospects (we still have Peckham, Plante, Petry)

- a talented prospect who doesn't even seem to want to sign with us however

You can argue about that 2nd but nevertheless a lineup like this would look quite good:

Penner - Gagner - Hemsky
Hall - Eberle - Horton
Jones - Horcoff - Pyatt
Pouliot - Petersen - Stortini

to get a big center for that id be fine with it

Can't we just have 1 sticky thread for all proposals like we did before?

Cogliano+ NAS 2nd+ Chorney might do the trick
if not add in Nash. They need a cheap young offensive defensemen so this makes sense, plus they might want to move in some younger talent. But I highly doubt them trading Horton.
