"The first overall draft pick of the 1992 draft can barely remember the last time he was benched in a playoff game. It was early in his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning. But he said he is not injured, takes full responsibility for his play and vows to do better."

I'm not reassured after reading this part.
Oh boy. I was certain he was injured. Well wtv, he's a vet and should be able to step it up on such short notice. At least he knows he's playing like crap.
I think this is good to hear. Hamrlik hasn't been good in this series and people love to get on his back lately but he is a seasoned vet and IF he can get his play to where it was earlier in the season, then that will be a huge plus. I'm glad that he is keeping himself accountable for his play.
If it was kovalev who was benched everyone would be tossing the "injury" excuse in there or maybe the "saving for the next series" excuse. At least Hamrlik manned up and took responsibilty, he wont get many more chances to make up for being a pathetic excuse for a #2 dman.

People like MathMan were using the injury excuse even when HE IS NOT INJURED.
You read that MathMan? HE IS NOT INJURED.
My favorite part: "For sure I can play better and I have to bring more, keep my feet moving and be physical -- that's my game," he said. "I'm sure the coaches will give me my chance."
HAHAHAHA. He has never been notably physical as a Hab. Even in his good first season.
That being said, I appreciate his little comment here and will be actively looking to see if he actually pulls through in game 6. He could be a difference maker, our d-corps is bad enough as it is If Hamrlik plays like a poor-man's Hamhuis/Martin it would be an improvement.
Wow, that was a pathetic sentence, so much for 5.5M dollars.
Career Playoff record:
76 games
3 goals
25 assists
27 points
-39
Quite the performer.

to be fair, he was pretty physical when we played the bruins in our miracle season. But maybe that's why, it was a miracle that he was playing all that physical.

Whatever it is, he isn't playing up to his capabilities. He was a rock for us earlier this year when Markov was out, and was a beast two years ago.
He's had a poor series so far for whatever reason but we should all hope he does indeed step up his game.
